Canonical announced Ubuntu OS for smartphones last week, and here we have a video demo of the Ubuntu OS running on the Galaxy Nexus. The Ubuntu OS for phones has an intuitive gesture-based User Interface, right from the lock screen. The colors in the phone OS are similar the Ubuntu for desktops. It also has a sidebar to access apps quickly.

ZTE unveiled the Grand S, the company’s first Android Smartphone with a Full HD 1080p display at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas. Here we have the hands-on images from the ZTE booth. Sony unveiled the Xperia ZL at CES 2013 earlier this week. We got some hands-on time with the device at the Sony booth at CES. The Xperia ZL is packs almost similar features as the Xperia Z including a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 320 GPU. Nokia has published preliminary financial results for the period of Q4, 2012 and have declared them to be better than expected.
The Finnish smartphone manufacturer has estimated shipments of its range of Lumia smartphones to have crossed 4.4 million units. It also shipped 9.3 million units of its Asha range of feature phones. Huawei has unveiled UltraStick E3331, the world’s smallest 3G data card at the CES 2013. Huawei’s latest data card is pretty thin at 7mm, measures 67.5 mm long and 25.5 mm wide. This data card beats its predecessor, Huawei E369, that held the position of the world’s smallest data card that was 8mm thick. The UltraStick E3331 might be the smallest 3G data card, but the Option XYFI that launched last year at MWC 2012 is still the world’s smallest 3G Wi-Fi hotspot. Samsung has announced the Galaxy S2 Plus. It has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, zero-lag shutter and a 2MP HD front-facing camera. It also comes with Samsung’s unique features such as S Voice, Popup Video, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Smart Alert and AllShare Play. It would also come with optional NFC support. At a press conference in New Delhi, Nokia has launched the much awaited mid end Windows Phone 8 Lumia 620 in India. Nokia had announced the Lumia 620 at the Le Web Conference in Paris last month, and it was the first affordable Windows Phone 8 device from Nokia. The device, with pretty great specs for a mid end device was a surprise announcement at Le Web, and comes with sweet dual coloured polycarbonate variations. It was revealed to the world by Marko Ahtisaari, the principal design head of Nokia.

After having launched a range of Android based smartphones in India, Lenovo has just went ahead and released its first 7 inch Android 4.0 tablet, the A2107 in India. The A2107 is Lenovo’s entry into the 7 inch tablet market that was made popular by the Galaxy Tab 2 310 and the Nexus 7. Centered around content consumption, the tablet has 3G data connectivity for internet access on the go.
The lower end tablet segment has been seeing a lot of entrants lately with offerings from the likes of MicroMax, Zync amongst others.
