ACT Broadband is one of few ISPs in India offering very high speed internet services at reasonable prices in a few cities in South India. The company is expected to make a strategic announcement tomorrow according to an invite which just landed in our inbox.  The invite reads “it’s incredible, it’s fast, it’s about to strike”. The company’s website also has a teaser which says that “We are changing the way you experience the internet, watch this space for more”. We should have more news tomorrow when the company makes the announcement.

Panasonic P41 and P61 with Android 4.4 launched for Rs. 11990 and Rs. 14990

Panasonic has launched P41 and P61, two new smartphones in P Series. It also officially launched the T41 that went on sale recently. The P41 has a 5-inch qHD display and the P61 comes with a 6-inch HD display. Both these smartphones are powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and comes with 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Microsoft introduces Bang by Coloud portable speaker

Microsoft just announced 4-inch Lumia 530 and 530 Dual SIM, its latest budget smartphones. The company has also launched colourful Bang mini speakers (MD-1C) by Coloud. The rechargeable speakers are portable and compact can play upto 8 hours of music on a single charge with its  680 mAh battery.

Microsoft devices has just announced the Lumia 530 the company’s latest budget smartphones. It has a 4-inch FWVGA display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Windows Phone 8.1. It has a 5-megapixel fixed focus rear camera, but lacks a front-facing camera. It also comes in Dual SIM variant called Lumia 530 Dual SIM with Smart Dual SIM that offers call waiting and call forwarding between two SIM cards. Idea offers 200,000 hours of free internet through Idea Web Pass for the next 20 days

Earlier this year Idea Cellular tied up with Opera Software to launch Idea Web Pass that lets users enjoy customized, time-based mobile internet packages within the Opera Mini browser. Earlier this month Idea introduced Sponsored Web Pass that offered 10 MB of internet access for a day sponsored by Quikr. Today Idea has introduced a new Free Internal Trial Pass that offers their customers 200,000 hours of free internet access, over the next 20 days through the web pass service on Opera Mini. BlackBerry Q5, 9720 and Curve 9320 QWERTY smartphones get a price cut in India

BlackBerry has reduced the price of a range of QWERTY smartphones in India that includes the Q5, 9720 and the Curve 9320. The BlackBerry Q5 that was launched in India back in July last year for Rs. 24,990 got a price cut to Rs. 19,990 earlier this year. It is now available for Rs. 13990. The BlackBerry 9720 that was launched in India for Rs. 15,990 last September has got a price cut to Rs. 11,990. The BlackBerry Curve 9320 that was launched back in 2012 for Rs. 15990 has got a price cut to Rs. 9900.

Xolo launched the Win Q990s, it’s first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone last month as the lightness Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Today the company has unveiled the Android variant of the smartphone called Q900s. It has a 4.7-inch qHD display instead of 4.7-inch HD display on the Win Q900s and this runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) that is upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). Apple reports Q3 2014 revenues at $37.4 billion, 35.2 million iPhones and 13.3 million iPads sold

Apple has reported revenue of $37.4 billion with a net profit of $7.7 billion in their earnings for Q3 2014 that ended June 28, 2014. The international sales in this quarter is 59% of the quarter’s revenue. They sold 35.2 million iPhones, 15.3 million iPads, 4.41 million Macs and 2.93 million iPods during the quarter. Brazil, Russia, India and China saw strong iPhone sales, up 55% year-over-year, said Apple CEO Tim Cook during the conference call. Google Play Store for Android updated with Material Design UI

Google has started rolling out Material Design UI to Play Store. The version 4.9.13. of the Google Play Store on Android now gets Material Design inspired overhaul which gives app, game, and other listings a revamp. The update comes a week after screenshots of the Play Store redesign were leaked.

NVIDIA Shield tablet with Tegra K1 goes official, starts at $299

After months of leaks and reports, NVIDIA has finally launched its Shield tablet which is specifically aimed at gamers. Powered with Tegra K1 quad core processor, the tablet sports 8 inch Full HD display can support full 1080p high-definition or 4K UltraHD games. It has 2GB of RAM, 5MP front and rear cameras, a 10 hour battery, and support for pressure-sensitive input with NVIDIA’s DirectStylus 2 device.
