FoneArena is at IFA 2013 in Berlin , Germany where a lot of new products are going to announced including the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Sony XPERIA Z1. You are going to see a lot of content from IFA on both our main blog and the tech blog throughout this week as we are working hard to bring you the best news from Berlin. Intex Aqua HD with 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core processor and 13MP camera coming soon

Intex launched the Aqua i7, the company’s flagship Android smartphone at an event earlier today. Now the Aqua HD, a new smartphone has appeared on the official website. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. This would compete with the iBall Andi 4.7G Cobalt since both have similar features. Rockstand enters into tie up with Vodafone for operator billing

Vodafone today announced a tie up with Rockstand which is one of the leading eBook and Magazine applications from India. The tie up beings up an interesting offering which should help drive reach substantially. Rockstand will now be offering a subscription option  exclusive to Vodafone wherein users can purchase books and magazined at just Rs. 7 per day. In addition to this, Vodafone customers will have access to the same wide range of eBooks and magazines including a wide variety of regional content for which users will be able to pay through their mobile balance. The partnership will prove to be critical in driving growth in the tier 2 and rural segments of the country. Rockstand has recently crossed 50,000 downloads and continues to grow at a steady clip.

Did Google just accidentally leak the LG Nexus 5?

Having announced the Google KitKat partnership for the next version of Android, the company released a video showing a celebratory installation of the new mascot in GooglePlex. This video might have looked normal at first, but keen eyes spotted a weird new device with the Nexus branding on the back. Could this be the unannounced Google Nexus 5? Also, if the logo is inspected at close, it looks to be made by LG. Unless our eyes fool us, this might actually be the upcoming Nexus 5 phone from Google, made by LG.

New iPad casing surfaces in a video, reveals smaller frame with same screen size

Apple announced an event on September 10th few hours back. Now a new video from  uploaded by Unbox Therapy shows an iPad shell or digitizer along with the rear casing compared with the iPad 4. The video claims that these are the parts of the 5th-generation iPad. According to the video, the new iPad would be narrower by 15mm and have a slim side bezel similar to the iPad mini. The edges are rounded, different from tapered design of the fourth-gen iPad. It has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Matrabhasha a multi-lingual application introduced with the entry-level phones recently. It lets users operate the phone in preferred regional language supporting upto 22 regional languages. Lava E-Tab Velo+, a new tablet in the Lava’s E-Tab range is now available in India from online retailer Snapdeal. It has a has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capactive multi-touch display, powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), similar to the recently launched XTRON+. It has a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera, but lacks a rear camera. It doesn’t have a SIM card slot or voice calling capabilities, but supports dongles. Apple sends out invites for a colourful September 10th event, hints at iPhone 5C

Apple has finally decided to make the yearly “new iPhone” day official. September 10th is the date, so mark your calendars if you haven’t already, because it’s been a while since Apple reporters predicted the exact launch date of the new Apple iPhone(s). With coloured flat bubbles dominating the invite, it’s quite easy to understand that the iPhone 5C might be what Apple is indicating here.

Out of the blue, Google have announced the codename for the next version of their Android operating system. The next sweet Google update is called Android 4.4 KitKat. The next update has been just named and no other details have been revealed, but that isn’t the real story here, it’s the name. EVLeaks, the guy known for most leaks these days has revealed yet another interesting bit of information today, pertaining to the future of Windows Phone. On the day of the huge Microsoft-Nokia announcement, this leak comes as something to look forward to, but then after taking a single glance at it will be quite the opposite of a reaction. Yes, what you see above in the leaked image is an indirect confirmation of the existence of Nokia Lumia 1520 codenamed “bandit” and a quick look at the cluttered look of the Windows Phone GDR3’s 1080p supported start screen.

Oppo teases the 5.9 inch N1 for a September 23rd reveal

Oppo has been constantly teasing the officially confirmed N1, the first in the series of camera centric flagship devices from the Chinese manufacturer. This time, they have revealed that the device is going to sport a huge 5.9 inch screen, which negates the earlier leaked specifications that the device will sport a 5.5 inch display. They have also revealed the front wireframe, which looks remarkably similar to the earlier leaked images, confirming the authenticity of the leaks. It was revealed to have a back-side touch sensor to navigate in a completely different way, adding to the fact that it might sport a really good camera.

Why the Microsoft – Nokia acquisition happened

Nokia and Microsoft just ended their joint press conference, in an effort to explain the acquisition the companies announced earlier today. As with any major announcement, especially with a brand like Nokia which invokes a lot of emotion, the reactions were predictably…. emotional. Risto Siilasma probably said it best, at the joint Nokia press conference in Finland – The acquisition is “Rationally perfect, emotionally complicated.” which we wholeheartedly agree with. But what drove the companies towards this deal? Why did Microsoft buy Nokia? What’s in it for both the companies? We try to explain with two points of views, read on.
