Nokia has just announced the Nokia 220, the company’s latest affordable phone that starts at just 29 Euros or around Rs. 2,500. It also comes in a dual SIM variant, the Nokia 220 Dual SIM. It has a 2.4-inch (320 x 240 pixel) LCD screen and also has a T9 keypad. It has a 2-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera and 2G support. It has Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, FM Radio, Flashlight and a 1100 mAh battery.

With support for Dual SIM cards, Microsoft can now compete with Google in the mid-range dual SIM smartphone market. Asus unveiled the Padfone Mini 4.3, the first mini version of the Padfone few months back. Unlike the Padfone with a 5-inch display that docks into the Padfone station with a 10.1-inch screen, this has a 4.3-inch screen and a smaller Padfone station with a 7-inch display. Remember, there are two Padfone Mini variants. The Padfone Mini 4.3 that we have unboxed has a 4.3-inch qHD screen and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, while the new Padfone Mini that we saw at the CES 2014 last month has a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 chip. The Lenovo K900 was the Chinese company’s first flagship launch in India. It had really good specifications for a high end phone and launched at a competitive price, only to then get lesser and suddenly turn into a really good value for money device. We had been waiting for its successor for quite a while now, and now it has come in the form of the Lenovo Vibe Z, which aims to fill the gap the K900 has left in the Indian market. The Vibe Z was announced in India just a couple of days back, at an event which we attended. It has been priced at Rs. 35,999, which is very close to what the K900 was launched for. We had taken a good look at the Vibe Z aka K910 at the Consumer electronics show in Vegas, but the phone was announced in China way back in October. Sony unveiled the Z1 Compact, a mini version of the Xperia Z1 at the CES 2014 earlier today. We could not get our hands on the device, but here are some live images of the device. The Xperia Z1 Compact is the Global variant of the Sony Xperia Z1 f (SO-02F) for NTT Docomo. It has a bright 4.3-inch (1280 x 720pixels) Triluminos Display with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Gionee would launch the company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Elife E7 in India at an event later today. We got to check out the the device, here are our hands-on impressions. The phone has a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor with 2GB or 3GB of RAM.

Gionee has launched the Gionee Elife E7 mini smartphone in India today for Rs. 18999. It will also launch the Gionee Elife E7, the company’s latest flagship phone at the event. The mini version of the flagship that will sport a octa-core processor from MediaTek and will have a relatively smaller 4.7inch 720p display.
Nokia announced the Lumia 525 sometime back last month and basically, it was a Lumia 520 with a very slightly different design and 1 GB of RAM. The Lumia 525 is primarily for addressing the low RAM issue on Windows Phones. Phones with 512 MB of RAM, like the Lumia 520, were not allowed to download some apps and games from the Windows Phone Store because of them demanding more resources. This was partly solved with more optimizations from the developers’ side, but we still see a lot of new apps and games releasing with the limitation, so Nokia simply went the other way and updated the 520 with 1 GB of RAM, and that’s exactly the reason why 525 exists. It was revealed at an event in Goa today that the Lumia 525 will be arriving to India during the first week of January 2014. The Lumia 520 is already the best selling Windows Phone in India and we hope the 525 directly replaces it. That said, we went hands on with the Lumia 525 at the Annual Strategy Sharing Summit in Goa, you can find our impressions below.
