Motorola Moto G Unboxing

We got you an exclusive first look at the Moto G from London and now we have the Motorola Moto G Unboxing on FoneArena. The  handset is a very affordable handset with some interesting specs and is actually a stripped down version of the MotoX smartphone. The Moto G features a 4.5 inch 720p display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The phone would be sold in 8GB and 16GB capacities and the actual user accessible space might be a little lesser.It ships with Android 4.3 at launch but the company is promising an update to Android 4.4 KitKat soon. The most attractive feature of the MotoG is the $179 price for the 8GB model in the US (135 GBP in the UK). It is currently on sale in the UK and coming soon to US and India in 2014.

Moto X gets Android 4.4 KitKat via OTA update

Motorola has surprisingly updated the Moto X to Android 4.4 really quick and the OTA update just showed up on our AT&T unit which we have been happily using in India.The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the MotoX is about 326MB in size and bears the version number 140.44.5.en.US. The update was pretty straight forward and came in as a Over the Air update and installation took about 20 mins to complete. Motorola had already started rolling out the update for the Verizon version.

Google Nexus 5 now available for purchase on Play Store in India

Google has finally started selling the all new Nexus 5 on the Play Store in India after being listed as coming soon after the global announcement. The 16GB version is listed at Rs.28999 as hinted before and the 32GB version is listed at Rs.32999. Both the 16GB and 32GB models in both black and white colours are available for purchase. The Nexus 5 is already on sale at LG dealerships at select cities in India at a slightly higher price of Rs.29999 for the 16GB model and Rs.33999 for the 32GB model. Great to see LG and Google bringing a device to the Indian market within days or weeks of the US launch with some reasonable pricing too!

Does the Moto G lack the WiFi Hotspot feature ?

We were all excited about the Motorola Moto G which is a $179 unlocked Android device with some really impressive specs for a phone in that price band. It is even coming soon to India as early as Jan 2014. But today something caught our attention on twitter. While responding to a user’s query , Motorola’s official account did mention that that the Moto G does not have the WiFi hotspot feature ! Now this is interesting because the Moto G runs on pretty much stock Android with no custom skin . But Google did disable WiFi hotspot in the Nexus 7 3G 2012 edition so this is not something totally new.  This might be a move to prevent backlash from American carriers as they would require a tethering plan for the same. But the device itself costs only $179 without a contract so paying a premium for a tethering plan does not make any sense.

Motorola Moto G India Launch in early Jan 2014

Motorola just officially announced the Moto G at an event in Sao Paulo in Brazil and also holding a satellite event in London where we should be getting our hands on the Moto G shortly. The company has also confirmed that the Moto G is indeed coming to India as soon as January 2014. The device is priced at an aggressive $179 price  for a 8GB unlocked version in the US without any contract of any sort. The 16GB version costs just $20 more at  $199. The India pricing is not yet available but we expect it to be announced closer to launch and hopefully under Rs.12500 which is probably one of the cheapest Android phones from an international handset maker.

Apple iPad Air Unboxing

We have the all new thinner and faster iPad Air for an unboxing at FoneArena. Apple announced this iPad along with new iPad mini with retina display at an event last month. The new iPad Air went on sale in the US and several other countries on November 1st.  There is no clear date for India yet but it is expected to be launched soon. Google Nexus 10 coming soon to India ? Gets priced at Rs.29999

Looks like Google is bringing one more Nexus device soon to India but in this case a slightly old tablet the Nexus 10. The Nexus 10 was announced last year along with the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 and went on sale in November 2012. Almost a year later there is an indication of this Android tablet coming to India on the Google Play Store when there are in fact rumors about the Nexus 10 version 2. The pricing is mentioned as Rs.29999 and the same tablet is sold in USA for $399 before taxes which is roughly about Rs.27000 approximately which is a tad high for a WiFi only Android tablet. The Nexus 10 is actually made by Samsung and has some interesting specs.

Google Nexus 5 Photo Gallery

Our good friend Michael Hell might not be blogging actively here but he still loves gadgets and shiny new phones. He brings us this awesome photo gallery of the just announced Google Nexus 5 made by LG which has gone on sale in several countries including Austria where he managed to get one. The Nexus 5 is coming soon to India as well and even the price has been revealed. The packaging looks pretty similar to the one found on the Nexus 7 2013 which seems like the new design language for the new Nexus lineup. Here we are going to take a look at the wonderful white version of the Nexus 5. There is a black version available as well. It will be available in both 16GB and 32GB capacities. Google Nexus 7 2013 32GB LTE Version priced at Rs.25999, coming soon to India

Google seems to be taking India seriously finally regarding launching new devices. The Nexus 5 which went on sale in the US recently is listed on the Google India Play Store as coming soon with even a price tag. Now the Nexus 7 2013 edition seems to have gotten a price on the  microsite for the product which was spotted by BGR India . Interestingly only the 4G LTE / Cellular version of the Nexus 7 2013 has gotten a Indian price, the WiFi versions have not got a price yet. The 32GB 4G LTE version which will work over our 3G/HSPA+ networks too is expected to be launched at Rs.25999. The tablet is sold in the US for a price of 349 USD which works out to roughly about Rs.23000 including taxes, so it seems like a  fairly decent price for the tablet India if you factor the import duty and shipping costs.

The Nokia World event has seen to the introduction of the new Lumia 2520 Windows tablet from the company, restarting its good old Booklet 3G tradition. While the Booklet 3g was a note book, the 2520 is far from it. It is a full touch device, conforming to the demands of today, but of course, you can do work on the 2520 using the pre-installed office suite, but that would be a waste if there is no keyboard/mouse combo. Nokia knows that, and has seen the popularity of the Microsoft Surface accessories, so it has launched a really versatile accessory called the Power Keyboard, which adds a keyboard, a trackpad, complete protection for the tablet in the form of a folio and a battery that can provide 5 extra hours over the original battery life. Apple just confirmed the official prices for the iPhone 5c in India which is expected to go on sale on November 1st in the country. Shockingly the iPhone 5c is going to cost a lot and start from Rs.41900 including taxes for the 16GB version. The 32GB version of the iPhone 5c will cost Rs.53500.  Just for the context the iPhone 5c costs USD 549 in the US for an unlocked unit.That translates to around Rs.36000 approx including taxes. Apple iPhone 5S India Prices out , starts from Rs.53500 for 16GB

Apple has just revealed the official pricing for the iPhone 5S in India which goes on sale on November 1st .The iPhone 5s will be available in gold, silver or space grey an will retail at a price of Rs.53,500 including VAT for the 16GB model. This is so much higher than the launch price of the iPhone 5 last year of Rs.45500 mainly due to the weak rupee.
