Samsung Galaxy S5 Camera Samples

Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and eventually arrived in Indian shores earlier this week. With a sky high price of Rs. 51,500, we set out to find if the device is really worth the price. While we will let you know the conclusion in our full review of the phone, in the process, we took the really intriguing 16 MP camera for a spin. We had purchased the international variant in the US and tested the camera in and around San Francisco to see how it fared in different lighting conditions. Microsoft releases Microsoft Office for Apple iPad – Word , Excel and PowerPoint

At an event in San Francisco today, Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella announced the availability of Microsoft Office for the iPad. The company has released 3 new iPad apps for Word , Excel and PowerPoint . The news is not a big surprise considering this is a much expected move but instant availability on the App Store is a great piece of news of Office users especially those with a Office 365 subscription. The apps are free for download and event viewing office documents is free. But editing the documents requires an active Office 365 subscription. This is clearly Microsoft’s attempt at getting more users to sign up for their cloud based Office offering.

Microsoft Office for iPad – Word , Excel and Powerpoint – Download Links

Microsoft unveiled the much awaited Microsoft Office suite for iPad with 3 separate apps for Word , Excel and Powerpoint. The apps just went live on the US iTunes App Store at 11AM Pacific time and 2PM Eastern time. The apps are free to download and viewing office documents is free. However to edit the documents, an Office 365 subscription is required.

HTC One (M8) Benchmarks

HTC unveiled the HTC One (M8), the latest flagship smartphone earlier today. We manged to get hold of the smartphone at the launch event and range some synthetic benchmark test. The HTC One (M8) is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS with HTC Sense 6 on top. The Sony Xperia Z2 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 also have a Snapdragon 801 SoC. Gionee, one of the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturers launched the Elife E7 in India at the end of last year. It went on sale across India recently. The company’s latest flagship smartphone in the Elife series features a 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It starts at Rs. 26,999, bit higher than their predecessor, the Gionee Elife E6, but it is cheaper when compared to other smartphones in similar range. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo at the Mobile World congress in Barcelona earlier this week. We managed to do a hands-on comparison between the two. Even though the Gear 2 has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display, this offers vibrant colors. This one is powered by Tizen OS, so the navigation is much faster than the Android-powered Galaxy Gear. Samsung Gear 2 Neo

Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 Neo along with the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014. The Gear 2 Neo is a cheaper version of the Gear 2 with plastic build and also lacks the camera. It has a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Tizen OS. It is 10.0 mm thick, similar to the Gear 2, but weighs 55 grams, about 13 grams lighter than the Gear 2. Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 at the MWC 2014 earlier this week. It is the successor of the first Galaxy Gear, that was introduced at the IFA 2013. Unlike the first Android-based Galaxy Gear, this one runs on Tizen OS, optimized for wearable devices, hence it is much faster in terms of navigation. The Gear 2 has the same 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display that we had seen on the Gear, but the processor has been improved. Samsung Gear Fit Hands On and Photo Gallery

Samsung introduced the Gear Fit, the company’s first wearable fitness band earlier this week at the MWC 2014. We got to check out the device at the event. Unlike the Gear watch series with a square screen, this has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display. The display is bright and the navigation is a smooth. Just like the Gear watch, this one has a Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors. You can remove the Gear Fit unit easily to change the strap. Check out the hands-on video below. The first YotaPhone with dual display was announced in MWC 2013 and they went on sale in December. Fast forward a year and they are here at MWC 2014 announcing the second generation YotaPhone. Unlike the original YotaPhone, the second generation YotaPhone is packed with top of the shelf specifications and has everything in it to compete with the top end smartphones.
