Microsoft and British designer team up to create wireless charging trousers

A British fashion designer along with Microsoft has created wireless mobile-charging trousers. The duo claims that they it is the first time such a trouser is made in the world. Adrien Sauvage, a 31-year-old designer has been working on the trousers for the past six months and the prototype will be released today in London.

Airtel launches 4G on mobile in Kolkata

Airtel launched its 4G LTE services starting from Kolkata, back in 2012. Today it has launched 4G on mobile in the city. Airtel would also offer live demos in Airtel’s company operated stores and also let users to upgrade to 4G SIMs. It offers separate 4G packs for prepaid customers and offers Airtel myPlan, customizable plans for postpaid customers that has myBoosters with 4G benefits. Samsung SideSync 3.0 Demo

At the Samsung event during which Samsung unveiled its Super AMOLED tablets – Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5, Samsung also announced an updated version of its feature – SideSync 3.0.  A couple of weeks back, Apple announced a feature called Continuity at the WWDC 2014 that would allow you to seamlessly switch work between various iOS devices. Samsung’s SideSync isn’t exactly the same, but tries to achieve something similar between the Galaxy Tablets and Galaxy smartphones.

NTT Docomo unveils Portable SIM, wearable tech that could replace SIM cards

NTT Docomo Portable SIM

Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has unveiled a new device called Portable SIM that aims to replace SIM cards in smartphones and tablets. This would let you wireless activate any compatible smartphone or a tablet with securely stored subscriber identity information on the device. This portable authentication device is still in prototype stage, so it is not yet compatible with any smartphone or tablet currently on the market. Ford vehicle-to-vehicle communication demo

Ford has demoed their experimental vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications technology for the first time in the Asia Pacific region at the Computex 2014 in Taipei. This WiFi-based technology enables cars to transmit data to other similarly equipped cars, including vehicle speed, location and predicted path to warn drivers of potential collision risks and other dangerous situations they may not be able to see yet. Reliance Jio, Ascend Telecom sign tower sharing deal


Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Ascend Telecom Infrastructure Pvt. Ostendo Technologies is working on advanced chip that can bring hologram technology to our smartphones. The California based company has created a tiny Tic Tac-sized projector that can project visible 3D holograms  and bring us closer to virtual reality, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Japan Display introduces 7-inch WQXGA display with WhiteMagic technology

Japan Display Inc. has announced a 7-inch wide QXGA (1600 x 2560 pixels) LCD panel for tablets. This LTPS (Low temperature polysilicon) type display has a new WhiteMagic technology that promises low power consumption and high visibility under sunlight. This uses edge-lit method, in which the LEDs are placed at the edges of the lightguide plate. This can reduce the module of up to 1.16 mm. We had already seen this WhiteMagic technology on the Sony Xperia P, but this also uses new local dimming backlight along with this. Airtel has launched 4G services in Jalandhar, Punjab.Airtel launched its 4G LTE services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in Punjab and Haryana last March and rolled out voice services on 4G in these three cities earlier this month. It also launched its 4G services in Ludhiana earlier this month. In Jalandhar, Airtel customers can access 4G on dongles, Wi-Fi CPEs (Customer Premise Equipment/ routers) and mobile phones. Airtel launches 3G services in Punjab

Airtel has launched 3G services in Punjab. It rolled out 4G services in Chandigarh – Tricity last year and in Ludhiana in Punjab last week. It offers 2G, 3G and 4G services in these two areas in Punjab and it also offers 4G on mobile in Ludhiana. Samsung announces Simband, a wearable open health platform

At the Voice of the Body event few hours back, Samsung announced Simband, an open hardware reference design for wearable technology, that has most advanced sensing technologies that could be used to track measurements such as heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure using the wrist-mounted band that has a modular array of sensors on the bottom. The Simband is being designed in a modular way, allowing for innovation in areas like battery life, form factor and noninvasive sensor technology, says Samsung.
