Archos is back in the smartphone race with a bang – that bang is the Full HD Archos Oxygen smartphone that boasts a stunning display without the hefty price tag and offers a lot of bang for your buck. The Oxygen is one of a total of 9 devices that Archos showed off at IFA, including the Archos Titanium and Platinum entry-level and mid-market range. These were announced ahead of IFA.

Qualcomm announced its own smartwatch known as the Toq at its annual developer conference UPLINQ 2013 in San Diego just before IFA 2013 in Berlin and we were lucky enough to meet folks from Qualcomm at IFA including Rob Chandok who is President of Qualcomm Internet Services and SVP of Qualcomm Technologies. We were indeed surprised that we could get our hands on the Toq Smartwatch. This Smartwatch seems pretty interesting compared to other similar products like the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Sony SmartWatch 2. Qualcomm has been working on the product for over 2 years and this is evident from the build quality and design of the product. Feels very premium and thought out. The best part is the Mirasol display which translates to great battery life and sun light visibility. Watch our hands on video below –

As you all know , the FoneArena team was IFA 2013 bringing you tons of content from the German capital Berlin.Just when we thought IFA2013 was coming to an end and we had to pack our bags to fly back home, we got a chance to try out Google Glass and hence we managed to record a demo too! If you are excited about wearable gadgets like smart watches , Google Glass is certainly going to impress you. Glass was launched almost a year ago at Google I/O and is still not available to the general public and it is selectively available only in the US to a hand picked set of developers and partners. I was in Berlin, Germany for IFA 2013 last week and managed to pick an LTE version of the Nexus 7 2013 which is currently on sale only in a few countries including Germany and UK. We had already unboxed the WiFi only version previous on FoneArena and like always we are always excited about any device with a SIM card slot and here we have the unboxing of the Nexus 7 2013 LTE version.

We covered the launch of the LG G2 in New York just a few weeks back and and this fully loaded smartphone is about to go on sale in the US and several other markets soon. We managed to grab one just in time for a quick unboxing. The G2 is one of the first phones to be powered by the blazing fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor like the Sony XPERIA Z Ultra. LG has done away with all buttons on the front and the sides of the phone and decided to put them on the back for easy access.How do the volume keys and power button look on the back of a phone ? LG announced their flagship smartphone, G2, nearly a month back and the Moto X was announced just before it and is already available while the LG G2 is yet to be available. LG G2 is equipped with top of the shelf features like a monstrous Quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC and a Full HD 1080p display while the Moto X is a lot more subtle with a dual-core processor and a 720p display. HTC recently announced the smaller version of their flagship – HTC One as the new HTC One Mini. Apple’s iPhone 5 is nearly an year old and Apple have already announced their newer Apple iPhone 5S. Both the devices are world’s apart except for their sizes. HTC One Mini has a 4.3inch display which is close to Apple’s 4inch RETINA display. Xolo launched the Q1000S, successor of the Q1000 last month. Here we have the device for review. Let’s check out the unboxing first. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display at 295 PPI based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) similar to the Q1000 that was launched back in May. Apart from the design, the processor, camera and the battery has been upgraded.

The trend in today’s Indian market is cheap Android Smartphones. Many companies like Micromax and Karbonn have successfully built huge businesses over this specific concept, however there are always compromises to be made. Most devices that land in the Indian market are re branded low cost Smartphones from across the border in China. Shenzen is a hub of countless number of companies that are mainly contract manufacturers and often end up offering really low cost, and thereby low quality phones. But some of them really stand out, like Meizu, Xiaomi, Oppo and the new entrant in our list of impressive Chinese companies – Gionee. The Elife E5 has inspired us to think beyond and acknowledge the fact that excellent phone makers exist, irrespective of the market they are from.
