Nokia has announced that they would roll out a new software update for the Lumia 610. The Nokia Lumia 610 was announced  at MWC 2012 and it was launched in India in July. While all are waiting for the Windows Phone 7.8 update, this new update would bring improved system performance, camera performance and would improve the overall usability of the device. Nissan NSC-2015 self parking and security technology using Galaxy S III demoed at CEATEC

We all know that Google has been working on a self driving car, but while kids are using their Android devices to drive miniature cars, Nissan has been trying to replicate it with the NSC 2015. Think of a future where you reach your office and get out of the car and press a button on your phone to park the car and the car automatically parks it. Now that will save us a lot of time and also make our lives easy.

Lava XOLO X900 Android 4.0 update starts rolling out

Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update is now available for Lava XOLO X900. The first Intel Medfield-powered phone was launched in August for Rs. 22,000, but it got a price cut to Rs.17500 last week. We reviewed the device in May when it was running on Android 2.3 (Gingerbead), now the ICS update brings several features including a new UI, faster browser, new lockscreen with face unlock, new camera UI, better compatibility for apps and games and more. S Huawei Ascend Y100 now available in India for Rs. 5990

Huawei has launched the Y100, their new entry-level Android smartphone in India in partnership with Spice, hence it called S Huawei Y100. It has a 2.8-inch (320 × 240 pixels) TFT Capacitave touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It is powered by a 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and has a 3.2MP fixed-focus camera at the back. The Huawei Ascend Y100 was announced back in May for select countries. Senior Marketing executive leaves Nokia, Lumia 920 debacle to blame?

According to a report from Reuters, a senior smartphone executive who held an important position in the smartphones division, has left the company. Ilari Nurmi was the Vice President of product marketing before he left the company, and he made Reuters aware of his departure through an email to them.

LG Nexus smartphone detailed specs surface, to be announced late October?

 

There were several rumors about the Google’s next Nexus Smartphone for the past few days. Earlier rumors from Android and Me suggested that the next Google Nexus smartphone would be LG Optimus based, but it would look similar to the Galaxy Nexus. Now detailed specs of the upcoming Nexus device has been leaked by MoDaCo. According to them, the LG’s Nexus has not been named yet, but some of the specs would be similar to the Optimus G, LG’s latest flagship smartphone that was launched  in Korea for 999,900 Korean Won (~US$900) last month. It would not come with a expandable memory slot, instead it would come in 8GB and 16GB variants, similar to the Nexus 7 and would feature an 8MP rear camera instead of 13MP camera. Microsoft loses to Motorola on a patent case in Germany

Germany has become a battle ground when it comes to patent cases between top mobile device manufacturing companies. In a recent patent infringement case filed against Motorola by Microsoft which revolves around an application running on various devices, Microsoft lost to Motorola. This news made me a bit happy and surprised as this is Motorola’s first lawsuit they have won in the recent years.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Benchmarks – quad-core Exynos CPU and Mali-400 GPU

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 2, successor of the Galaxy Note in India last week, and we managed to get hold of the device to run some benchmarks. These benchmarks test the performance of the 1.6 GHz quad-core 4412 Exynos processor with Mali 400 GPU. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 topped in most of the benchmarks when compared to the other quad-core devices such as Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and the LG Optimus 4X HD. Microsoft Surface RT and Windows Phone 8 to be officially launched this month

Microsoft has announced the Surface RT and Windows Phone 8 launch events in San Francisco scheduled for the end of this month. The Microsoft Surface RT event is set for October 25th, and the Windows Phone 8 event is set for October 29th. Microsoft announced the Surface Tablet back in June and the Surface RT would come with a 10-inch (1366×768 pixels) touch screen display and would be powered by an ARM processor. It would have a micro SD card slot, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2×2 MIMO antennae for better WiFi connectivity. Jolla to unveil Sailfish OS at Slush conference in Helsinki

Jolla Mobile, the Finnish mobile startup, has announced that it will be showing off its MeeGo based smartphone operating system at the Slush startup conference in Helsinki. The conference is slated to take place from 21-22 November. The operating system has been codenamed Sailfish and details regarding the SDK for the OS will be rolled out around the same time.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 coming to AT&T in November

AT&T has announced they would sell both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia’s latest Windows Phone 8 devices. Both these devices were announced last month at an Event in New York, and the price of these phones were revealed for some European countries last week. The Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, while the 820 comes with a 4.3 inch-inch (800 x 480 pixels) OLED  ClearBlack display. Both these phones are powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and has a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording. Micromax Funbook Talk with Voice calling launched for Rs. 7249

Micromax has launched the Funbook Talk (P350), their new 7-inch tablet in the Funbook series. This tablet has a ear piece for voice calling and has 2G (GPRS) connectivity. Other features are similar to the Funbook Alpha that was launched last month including a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz processor with Dual Mali 400– the 2D/3D Graphics Processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. Google Maps web app for iOS to get Street View support

Walt Mossberg reported on the Wall Street Journal that Google will soon rolling out Street View to users of the iOS Google Maps web app. With iOS 6, Apple replaced the integrated Google Maps based solution with their homegrown offering which pales in comparison.
