Micromax has launched the Canvas Hue (AQ5000), the company’s latest smartphone in the Canvas series. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is upgradable to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It features a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Paytm to receive $575 million funding from Alibaba

Alibaba is investing $575 million in Paytm, according to a latest report from The Economic Times. The Chinese e-commerce giant is investing the sum in Indian e-commerce company and digital payments company, One97 Communication.

10,000 YU YUREKA units to go on sale on Jan 13th, receives over 3 lakh registrations

Micromax’s YU plans to sell 10,000 units of YUREKA smartphones on its first flash sale on January 13th, tomorrow at 2PM on Amazon.in, according to a report from PTI (via ET). The company has received over three lakh registrations for the smartphone, and it had to close the registration a day before the actual date of December 25th due to tremendous response, said Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma to PTI. EE now has 7.7m 4G customers, 80% UK coverage

EE this morning announced that it has signed up 7.7 million 4G customers as it continues the rollout of its 4G network to towns and cities across the UK. The figures show that EE managed to increase its subscriber base by 5.7 million customers since the beginning of 2014 and its rollout continued with 210 new major towns and cities added in Q4 2014.
