Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon 620, 618, 425 and 415 chipsets in their Snapdragon 600 and 400 lineup. All these chips have LTE support,including Global Mode RF360 support. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 is an octa-core chip with 4 ARM Cortex A72 CPUs and 4 ARM Cortex A53 and CPUs, and the Snapdragon 618 is a hexa-core chip with 2 ARM Cortex A72 CPUs and 4 ARM Cortex A53 and CPUs. Both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 and 415 are octa-core chips with 8 ARM Cortex A53 64-bit CPUs. Both these have Adreno 405 GPU. Micromax has launched Canvas Pep Q371, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Canvas series. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA screen, is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), similar to the Canvas Xpress A99 that was released couple of months back. It has a 5-megapixel fixed focus rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel VGA front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM support similar to other Micromax smartphones and also has 3G connectivity. Samsung introduces first eMMC 5.1 flash memory

Samsung has announced that it has started developing industry’s first eMMC (embedded multimedia card memory) 5.1 flash memory. This is based on the eMMC 5.1 standard approved by JEDEC recently. Sequential reads and write speed of Samsung’s 64GB eMMC 5.0 flash memory were 250MB/s and 90MB/s respectively. Asus has announced Fonepad 7 FE375CL, the company’s latest Fonepad 7 variant with LTE support and Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Amazon India has announced that the YU YUREKA smartphone will be available today for select customers those who have shown a high level of interest to buy the smartphone but were unable to get it. The sale happens today, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 2 PM to 5 PM. Only registered customers who were unable to purchase the YUREKA will be eligible to participate in today’s sale and will receive an email from Amazon.in informing them of their access to the sale, said the company.

Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 get a price cut in India

Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones have received a minor price cut in India within a month after the launch. Both these smartphones were launched for Rs. 19,300 and Rs. 23,000, respectively. According to Mumbai-based retailer Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom, the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones are now available at Rs. 18, 250 and Rs. 21,300, respectively.
