Android 4.3 Jelly Bean announced , arriving on Nexus 4 , Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus today

The much expected Android 4.3 update to the Android mobile operating system which has been leaked several times in the past few days has finally been officially announced at a Google event in San Francisco few hours ago. The new Nexus 7 or the 2nd generation Nexus 7 tablet which is shipping on July 30th will be the first device to ship with Android 4.3 out of the box. The main highlights of this Android update are Restricted Profiles , Bluetooth 4.0 low energy support , OpenGL ES 3.0 support and addition of several APIs for developers. Sony Xperia Z Ultra now available in India for Rs. 44990

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest flagship phone last month. Now the phone is available in India from online retailer Saholic. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has IP55 / IP58 rating for dust and water resistance and has pen input. HTC Desire 500 with 4.3-inch display, quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor announced

HTC has announced the Desire 500, a mid-range Android smartphone in Taiwan. It has a 4.3-inch  (480 × 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Sense 5. It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and BSI sensor and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor. It has BlinkFeed and Video Highlight software and comes with Beats Audio support, but it lacks BoomSound that was present in the Desire 600. Nokia has announced the Lumia 625, a mid-range affordable Lumia smartphone and a successor of the Lumia 620. Images and specifications of the device leaked earlier today. It has a 4.7-inch  (800 x 480 pixels) LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, Sunlight Readability Enhancement, High Brightness Mode, Color Enhancement and Super Sensitive Touch, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS with the latest Amber update. Micromax launched the first Bling phone back in 2010 and unveiled the Bling 2 A55 in 2011. Now the third phone in the Bling series, Bling 3 A86 has surfaced on online retail site Flipkart. According to the listing the phone would come with a 4-inch touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is encrusted with Swarovski Zirconia crystals making it a premium smartphone. Ubuntu Edge revealed, with an ambitious crowd funded 2014 launch

Canonical, the company behind the highly popular Linux Distro has revealed its plans for a cutting edge high end smartphone running the Ubuntu OS for smartphones. The OS, formally launched at the Mobile World Congress(which we went hands on with) was in the alpha stage and a demo had been made available for some Android devices too, but it was never ready to be a daily driver. While that is supposed to change soon, Canonical wants to make a really high end device that would hopefully end the hunt for convergence, a single device that does it all. Full specifications of the Nokia Lumia 625 leak ahead of launch

We just saw Nokia tease the Lumia 625 yesterday. While we were pretty sure it was the Lumia 625 that is going to be announced today, some others thought it might be a tablet, but as a tradition these days, the full specifications and colourful press images of the Lumia 625 have leaked out on to the internet, just ahead of launch, confirming our suspicions about the device. The usual Data Sheet that is given to journalists with the press kit has leaked out from Finland’s own Puhelinvertailu and it tells us a lot more than what we already know. Is Nokia launching the 4.7 inch Lumia 625 tomorrow?

Nokia has just teased in their official Conversations blog that “something BIG” is coming tomorrow. The blog usually teases phones ahead of launch with clear cut titles, like “Zoom in” for the Lumia 1020, “Steel yourself for the next instalment” for the Lumia 925, and similarly, we think that “Something BIG” is meant for the first 4.7 inch Nokia – the Lumia 625. In a very quick tease they have said that they are launching the Lumia 625 tomorrow at 9 A.M UK time, which is 02:30 P.M IST tomorrow for us. Will there be details we actually don’t know about, yet? We’ll see, but there was a specific leak earlier that leads us to believe that it is indeed the Lumia 625.

ZTE Grand X Quad Lite with 5 inch qHD display launched in India for Rs. 14,999

Apart from five low to mid range smartphones that ZTE launched today, in India, the Chinese manufacturer has also revealed its flagship device. The flagship device, although falling in the similar mid range price bracket, has matching specs with the current crop of 5 inch devices that are doing the rounds in the market. Equipped with a 5 inch qHD screen and a quad core processor, ZTE hopes to peg this as the phone to get from its portfolio for the Indian consumers. That said, ZTE seems to really acknowledge the fact that in India, the volume is in mid range. Let us take a look at the specifications of the device then.

ZTE launches a range of low to mid end smartphones in India

ZTE has announced its arrival to the Indian market at an event in Mumbai today with an onslaught of a total of six devices and four 3G data cards. With these new devices, the Chinese mobile giant aims to capture some marketshare and mind share in the world’s second fastest growing smartphone market. While data has proven that the smartphone market is just a miniscule part of the whole mobile phone market in India, it is indeed growing faster than any other. This lucrative opportunity has provided us, the consumers with a lot of choices and that includes various Chinese companies like Gionee, Huawei, Lenovo and now ZTE. The company has launched four mid range devices in the Blade range as a part of their complete portfolio roll out.

If you remember the first teaser of the Moto X, a picture with two people jumping into the water, it boasted of two things – “Designed by you. Assembled in the USA.”. While the terms designed by you is still open for interpretation, Motorola has practically sealed the case for the next one by posting a tweet with a picture of the Moto X being manufactured at a Motorola plant in the USA.

Xolo launched the Q1000, the company’s latest flagship in the ‘Q CORE’ series back in May. Celkon had also launched the A119Q Signature HD, successor of the A119 Signature HD back in May. We review both the Q1000 and the A119Q recently since these had similar features such as 5-inch HD display, quad-core processor and Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Even though Xolo has come up with a Tegra 3-powered Xolo Play T1000, Celkon is yet to released their next flagship device. Both these devices are priced under Rs. 15,000.  We managed to compare both these devices.

HTC One Mini goes official with a 4.3 inch 720p display and Snapdragon 400 in tow

The long rumoured and heavily leaked HTC One Mini has finally gone official. Filling the space left by the HTC One S, the One mini will be sporting a smaller display and more modest specs, when compared to its bigger brother and flagship, the HTC One. While the design and the looks are almost exactly the same as the One, the internals are different with predictable cost cutting done in the favour of a lower price. So, in any case, this isn’t a smaller flagship like most people expect it to be. While the camera is the same 4MP UltraPixel camera as the One, it loses the OIS functionality, and if you are keen enough to notice the lack of a vertical band above the camera, which is now occupied by the flash, there is no NFC on this either.

4.7 inch Nokia Lumia 625 revealed in leaked pictures

The Nokia Lumia 625 codename has been doing its usual rumour rounds for a while now, and while the name was confirmed, the device was nowhere to be seen in a leak. Worry not, the leak machine from China is in full swing and images of what seems to be a big Nokia device plastered as the “Lumia 625H” has been leaked with pictures of its front, back and its sides. The Lumia 625 reportedly sports a 4.7 inch screen with other specifications resembling of or improving on the Lumia 620, presumably.
