Micromax A27 Ninja with 3.5-inch display, 1 GHz processor now available for Rs. 3399

The Micromax A27 Ninja that surfaced on the official site few days back is now on sale from online retailer Saholic. It has a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It has a unique Swipe ‘n’ Share feature that lets you share apps, games, photos, videos, songs & more with other Android devices with just a swipe. It has a 0.3 MP (VGA) camera at the back, but this phone does come with 3G support similar to the Micromax A65 Smarty 4.3 that went on sale last month. LG Optimus L Series II Smartphones Optimus L3 II, L5 II and L7 II announced

LG has officially announced the Optimus L Series II devices, the Optimus L3 II, the Optimus L5 II and the Optimus L7 II. LG unveiled the Optimus L3, L5 and the L7 at the MWC 2012 last year and sold more than 10 million L Series devices in the first 10 months. The new L Series II has new design elements such as Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button. The Nokia Lumia 920 had its fair share of comparisons made when it won our Battle of the Flagships 2012 but it wasn’t fair to leave it just at that, and hence we are doing the Lumia 920 vs the flagships series. We are looking at the Nokia Lumia 920 vs the LG Optimus G today. The LG Optimus G was one of the first devices to have been manufactured in collaboration with LG’s own companies like LG Innotek, LG Display and LG Chem and it is certainly one of LG’s best Android flagships till date. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 311 now available for Rs. 13900

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 311, , Wi-Fi variant of the Galaxy Tab 2 310 is finally on sale from the official Samsung eStore. The pre-bookings for the tablet started last month. The 3G variant, Galaxy Tab 2 310 was announced back in February 2012, and launched in India in May. Other than the 3G support voice calling, other features are similar to the Tab 2 310 including a 7-inch (1024×600) PLS TFT LCD display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 3MP fixed focus rear-facing camera and VGA front-facing camera. Sony Xperia Z and ZL coming soon to India

The Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL were introduced at the Consumer electronics show 2013 at Las Vegas recently. With both of them sporting a 5 inch 1080p screen and a powerful Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, they generated quite a lot of buzz at the trade show. It was announced that the global roll out will be started soon, and the above image is the first clue that both the Xperia Z and ZL are landing in the Indian markets soon. As you can see above, straight from the horse’s mouth, the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are supposedly “coming soon” to India.

Asus MeMO Pad Smart with 10.1-inch IPS display, Android 4.1 announced

Asus has officially announced the MeMO Pad Smart, the company’s latest tablet with a 10.1-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5MP auto-focus rear camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. It has Dual Stereo Speakers with SonicMaster Audio Technology for enhanced audio output. It surfacd on several online retail sites in Netherlands, Italy and Germany recently. Micromax A116 Canvas HD to go on sale from February 14

Micromax unveiled the A116 Canvas HD with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor last month. It is expected to go on sale in the first week of February, now they have announced that the phone would go on sale from February 14th. Sony Mobile has finally started rolling out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the 2012 Xperia devices starting from the Xperia T (9.1.A.0.489) and the Xperia V (v 9.1.A.0.490), as they promised. Ubuntu Smartphone Devices to Ship Starting October 2013

The Ubuntu operating system for Smartphones was recently unveiled with its radical UI and user experience getting much praise and accolade from the tech press. We took a hands on look at the Ubuntu OS running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, at the International CES 2013 and we were quite impressed with it. Canonical inc., the minds behind the OS promised to bring a very similar experience from the desktop Ubuntu OS that is widely installed by various classes of consumers, to the smartphone experience. And they have just done that, with the Ubuntu for Smartphones. While we got to know about the software, the hardware was literally non existent at the OS launch, but that might be fixed real soon with Canonical CEO Mark Shuttleworth promising devices as early as October 2013.

HTC Butterfly vs Nokia Lumia 920

The HTC Butterfly launched very recently in India for a price of Rs.45,990, making it one of the costliest phones to buy here. You might have read our review of the HTC Butterfly, with a large emphasis on it being the first smartphone to sport a 1920×1080 screen in India.
