Sony to roll out Android 4.1 update for select 2012 Xperia devices starting from February 2013

Sony Mobile has announced that they would start rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for select 2012 Xperia devices starting from February 2013. The company confirmed Jelly Bean update for range of 2012 Xperia devices back in October.

As they announced earlier, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V would be the first devices to get the update during February and March 2013.  Xperia P, Xperia J and Xperia go would get the update starting from the end of March, and the update for Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S would follow soon after that.

Sony had already confirmed that 2011 Xperia devices would not be upgraded beyond Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Now they have announced that 2012 Xperia devices including Xperia U, Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, and Xperia sola would not be upgraded to Jelly Bean due to hardware limitations.

The roll out might vary across different carriers and countries. Sony has promised to reveal more details about the Sony Xperia Jelly Bean features and functionality by this New Year.
