HTC One launched in India for Rs. 42,900, available April end

HTC has launched the HTC One, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone in India. It was announced back in February and packs a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed. It has an UltraPixel camera on the back with LED Flash and a 2.1MP HD front-facing camera with 88 wide angle lens with HDR capability. It has a Metal Unibody Design, comes with Beats audio support, HTC Sense TV app with program guide and remote control, Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers and dual microphones. Intex launched the Aqua Wonder, a dual SIM smartphone with a dual-core processor couple of months back. Now Intex is all set to launch the Aqua Wonder Quad Core with a quad-core processor, which is listed on Flipkart as coming soon. Other features would remain the same including a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) Capacitive touch screen IPS display, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with dual LED flash. It would have a 2MP front-facing ccamera instead of 1.3 MP front-facing camera in the Aqua Wonder. This would compete with the Xolo Q800 that was launched last month. Samsung Galaxy Win that was recently unveiled in China has been officially announced for global markets. It has a 4.7-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) TFT display, run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Touchwiz UI and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It has a 5MP Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes in single SIM and dual SIM variants. The Samsung Galaxy Win Duos has dual SIM support with dual standby and dual SIM Always On feature, similar to the Galaxy Grand Duos that we reviewed recently. LG has officially launched the LG Optimus L3 II Dual (E435) and the Optimus L7 II Dual (P715), dual SIM Android smartphones in India. Both these were priced on the official LG India website last weeks, and went on sale online few days back. LG unveiled theOptimus L Series II devices at the MWC 2013 in February.  These phones use the LG L Style design that has Seamless Layout with minimalistic contours and graceful edges, Laser Cut Contour for elite craftsmanship with elite laser-etched details and Radiant Rear Design with pebble-like accents. Both these run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and have dual SIM support with a dedicated SIM switch button. Samsung Galaxy Y Plus and Galaxy Young now available in India for Rs. 6290 and Rs. 8290


The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus went on sale in India for Rs. 22,900 couple of weeks back, now Samsung’s new budget phones, the Galaxy Y Plus and the Galaxy Young are on sale in India from online retailers Snapdeal and Flipkart. The Samsung Galaxy Y Plus (GT-S5303) surfaced on Samsung India’s website last month. It has a 2.8-inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 850 MHz  processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).  The Samsung Galaxy Young (GT-S6312) was announced back in February, and we also brought you hands-on images of the device from the MWC 2013. It has a 3.27-inch ( 480 × 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Both these phones have dual SIM support with dual SIM Always On feature. Lava has launched the Iris 455, a new Android smartphone in the Iris Series on Blockbuster Phoneday. It has a 4.5inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD capacitive touch screen display and has a 1GHz dual-core  processor similar to the Iris 454 that was launched earlier this year for Rs. 8,499, but this runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) instead of ICS. Huawei Ascend Y300 and Ascend G510 now available in India for Rs. 7980 and Rs. 10990


Huawei Ascend Y300 and the Huawei Ascend G510 went on pre-order in India earlier this week. Both these phones are now available from online retailer Flipkart. The Ascend Y300 has a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor. The Ascend  G510 has a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor. Both these phones run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), have a 5-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. The Micromax A91 Ninja, a new dual SIM Android smartphone is now on sale from online retailer Saholic. It has a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 5MP auto focus rear camera and a 0.3 MP (VGA) front-facing camera. This has a TFT LCD display instead of Super AMOLED display in the A90S that was launched last year, but the display resolution and that battery are slightly better. Most of the features are similar to the Karbonn A12 that was launched earlier this year. HTC Desire Q with 4.0-inch display, 1 GHz processor announced

HTC has announced the Desire Q, a new Android smartphone in Taiwan. It has a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processo and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with Sense UI on top. It has a 5 MP auto focus camera at the back with LED Flash and comes with Beats audio support. HTC unveiled the Desire P, a mid-range Android smartphone in Taiwan earlier this week. The design of the phone looks more like the Desire X, but the features are similar to the Desire U that was launched in Taiwan earlier this year. The Indian smartphone market has recently been seeing an influx of a lot of devices which are big on the screen and specs, while at the same time small on the budget, catering to the exact demand of the market since the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Note. The phablet, as the term goes, means a device is bigger than a phone but smaller than the tablet, fitting right in the middle. This is purely a notion marketed by Samsung with the Galaxy Note, and it has caught up like wildfire among the various entrants in the Indian Smartphone market.

And two of the devices that are a by product of this phablet movement are the Micromax A116 Canvas HD and Samsung’s own Galaxy Grand Duos. LG has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Optimus 4X HD (P880) in Europe. The Optimus 4X HD was announced last February at MWC 2012 and launched in India last July. The LG Optimus L9 (P760) got the update in Europe last week. It was announced last August and launched in India last December. HTC and Facebook has partnered for the HTC First, the first phone to feature Facebook Home, an Android Launcher with Cover feed that offers photos and updates from your newsfeed, Notifications, Chat Heads, App Launcher to launch Facebook apps and also comes pre-loaded with Instagram. The HTC First has a 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Facebook today announced its brand new Android Launcher called Facebook Home which will serve as a gateway to the social network’s services. The launcher is meant to replace the default skin on your Android device and hooks in with Facebook centric services. Facebook just announced their Facebook Home Android product and only select HTC and Samsung devices will be getting it initially. The Samsung Galaxy S3 , Galaxy Note 2 and HTC OneX+ are existing devices which are supported.The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are new devices which will be compatible with the app. Facebook  put rumors about a Facebook phone or an forked Android OS with the launch of this app.
