After reports of Reliance Jio launching Jio Coin soon, several fake apps with the name JioCoin started cropping up on the Google Play Store and in recent weeks soliciting investments in crypto currencies from people. Reliance Jio today confirmed that it has not launched any JioCoin App and said that any such apps using the JioCoin name are fake.

Back in October last year, a report said that Reliance Jio will stop the JioPhone production to focus on Android smartphone, but it resumed the sale of the phone later. Today at an event TL Lee, Head of Mobiles at MediaTek said that the company will partner with Reliance Jio to launch a new Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India this year under the LYF brand. He also said that the phone will be powered by MT6739 SoC. JioPhone uses Spreadtrum SP9820A and Qualcomm 205 SoCs.

Reliance Jio unveiled JioPhone, the company’s first VoLTE feature phone back in July last year and started pre-bookings for the phone in August. It launched Rs. 153 plan exclusively for JioPhone users offering free voice calls and 500MB data per day with 28 days validity offering 14GB data. Reliance Jio is said to be in talks with Xiaomi for exclusive rights to sell smartphones and TVs in India similar to what it has with Apple. If everything works out, Jio will exclusively sell Xiaomi phones and TVs through the Jio retail network and the Reliance Digital chain of stores, according to a new report from ET. Reliance Jio revised its packs earlier this month offering more data and Rs.50 cheaper rates, soon after it introduced Happy New Year 2018 plans. Now the company has revised its plans again ahead of Republic Day 2018. It has introduced a new pack for Rs. 98 that offers unlimited calling and 2GB data with 28 days validity. All existing 1GB per day packs are enhanced to 1.5GB per day; 1.5GB per day packs are enhanced to 2GB per day. Reliance Jio today reported Rs. 6879.42 crore revenue, up 12.7% QoQ and a net profit of 504.38 crore for its second quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 31st December, 2017. This comes after the company reported a net loss of 270.59 crore in the previous quarter. Jio’s rival Airtel earlier this week reported over 39% decline in profits for Q3 2018. Airtel today announced that it has archived 6500 mobile broadband sites (4G+3G sites) across Gujarat, expanding the availability of data services to more than 7250 towns and villages in the state. “In the expansion process, Airtel has installed one new 4G site every 90 minutes in the past 6 months to cater to the surge in the high-speed internet needs of the users and to collaborate with the Government’s vision of Digital India,” said the company. To take on Reliance Jio, Airtel, Idea and Vodafone have revised two of its pre-paid plans offer more validity compared to what it previously offer. Reliance Jio revamped all its plans last week offering Rs. 50 discount on some of its plans and 50% more data in some packs.
Reliance Jio launched Happy New Year 2018 plans with 28 days validity for Rs. 199 and Rs. 299 with 1.2GB per day and 2GB per day data, respectively. Now the company has revised the packs that lets you enjoy 1GB data per day at Rs. 149 and Rs. 198 pack offers 1.5GB data per day with the same 28-days validity.
