Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro with 6.26-inch 19:9 FHD+ display, dual front and rear cameras launched in India starting at Rs. 13999

Xiaomi just launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro, successor of the Redmi Note Note 5 Pro in India, as it had promised. The major change is the 6.26-inch Full HD+ screen with a notch, 19:9 aspect ratio and dual front cameras, in addition to dual rear cameras, and the primary 12-megapixel camera now has f/1.9 aperture and  1.4μm pixel size for better low-light images. Both these have AI features including AI portrait and AI scene recognition. Xiaomi reports 49.1% YoY increase in revenue in Q3 2018, smartphone revenue up 36.1% YoY

Xiaomi this week reported its earning for the third quarter (Q3 2018) that ended September 30, 2018. It reported revenue of 50.846 billion yuan (US$($7.3 billion), an increase of 49.1% year-on-year, among which international revenue grew 112.7% year-on-year to 22.3 billion yuan, accounting for 43.9% of total revenue. Net profit for the third quarter was 2.481 billion yuan ($357 million) for the quarter. Adjusted profit (Non-IFRS Measure) increased was 2.885 billion yuan, up 17.3% YoY and up 36.3% QoQ. Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6 Pro in India back in September running MIUI 9, now it has started receving MIUI 10 Stable update. The update is also available for the Redmi 5 smartphone that was launched earlier this year running MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat). Xiaomi creates Guinness World Record by opening over 500 Mi Stores simultaneously, plans to open 5000+ Mi Stores by the end of 2019

After creating Guinness World Record by building the largest light mosaic (logo) in the world, back in September Xiaomi today announced that it has created a new Guinness World Record by inaugurating over 500 Mi Stores simultaneously at the exact same time. Located across 14 states, all new Mi Stores were collectively inaugurated at sharp 12 pm on 29 October, 2018, marking a first of its kind, unique achievement for the brand.

Xiaomi takes over smartphone business of Meitu

Xiaomi has taken over the hardware business of Chinese selfie app and smartphone maker Meitu. Though the future smartphones will come with Meitu branding, Xiaomi will be responsible for design, R&D, and sales, while Meitu will still be involved in camera software. Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Android Pie Beta testing to start soon as the company opens registrations

Xiaomi launched the second-generation Android One devices – Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite back in July at an event in Spain. At the event, Xiaomi and Google promised Android version updates along with monthly security patch updates as the device was launched under the Android One program. Going by the history of first gen of Android One device Mi A1, Xiaomi has managed to provide monthly security patch updates, but it has struggled to deliver on the promise of keeping the Android version up to date as Android Oreo 8.1 update for Mi A1 was delayed and was released in June 2018. Xiaomi Mi A2 Android 9.0 Pie stable update starts rolling out in India

Xiaomi launched the second-generation Android One device – Mi A2 in India back in August running Android 8.1 (Oreo). At the event, Xiaomi and Google promised Android version updates along with monthly security patch updates as the device was launched under the Android One program. Today the company has rolled out stable Android 9.0 (Pie) update for the smartphone, as it had promised, after few months of beta testing.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A a year ago running MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. As per an official announcement, Redmi 5A is eligible for Android Oreo update, the device has already been updated to Oreo with MIUI China Beta ROM update last week. MIUI Global Beta ROM for Redmi 5A is not released for past couple of weeks and we are expecting Android Oreo based MIUI Global Beta ROM to be released soon. After temporary price cuts during festive sales recently, Xiaomi has announced Rs. 1000 permanent price cut for the Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Y2 smartphones. The company says that this is to celebrate Xiaomi being is the top Smartphone Brand for 5 quarters in a row as per the latest IDC report. The company says that Xiaomi India has an amazing 42% share of dual camera phones. It recently hiked the rates of  Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, 10000mAh Mi Powerbank 2i and Mi TV (32″ Pro & 49″ Pro).
