BlackBerry PlayBook 3G with 1.5GHz dual-core processor, NFC rumored

RIM’s 2012 lineup of devices has surfaced. This reveals new BlackBerry PlayBook with upgraded 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor and new BlackBerry curve devices. According to the slides from BGR, the upgraded PlayBook would come with 42Mbps HSPA+ Connectivity and NFC support, in addition to OS 2.0 in May or June. Motorola announces Q4 2011 earnings, 10.5M phones and 200K tablets shipped


Motorola Mobility has announced their financial Results for the fourth quarter of 2011. They have declared a net loss of $80 million on revenue of $3.4 billion last quarter. They managed to ship 10.5 million mobile devices, including 5.3 million smartphones and 200 thousand tablets in Q4 2011. [Updated] Nokia publishes Q4 2011 results , Sells over 1 million Lumia smartphones

Nokia just published their Q4 2011 results with predictably dropping sales. What is interesting to note is that the Finnish cellphone manufacturer managed to sell over 1  million Lumia devices. Sales are 31% lower than the same quarter last year essentially selling 19.6 million units. These numbers however are 17% up since Q3 2011.

Nokia received $250million from Microsoft in Q4 2011

Nokia’s Q4 results report reveals that it has received a “platform support payment” from Microsoft to the tune of $250 million.

Nokia states that this fee is on a per quarter basis which means that it will be getting more such payments in the future. Over the course of the agreement , platform support payment are expected to figure in billions of dollars. Nokia still has to pay an OS licensing fee of approximately $27 per device sold to Microsoft.

Nokia sells their 1.5 billionth Series 40 phone in Brazil

Nokia has announced that they have shipped over 1.5 billion Series 40 (S40) phones. Their first Series 40 phone, Nokia 7110 was developed in 1999 that offered web-based functions, including email. The 1.5 billionth phone was received by a female consumer in the Brazilian city of São Paulo. Their latest S40 phone Nokia Asha 303 with QWERTY keypad, Touch screen display and 1 GHz processor was announced at the Nokia World last year. Nokia Lumia 710 unboxing

The Nokia Lumia 710, announced at last year’s Nokia World, is Nokia’s second Windows Phone device. The Mango-powered smartphone will be making its way across stores worldwide.

The Lumia 710 is Nokia’s attempt at making Windows Phone cheaper and accessible to the market. While the Lumia 710 can be considered an ‘entry level’ Windows Phone, the specs says otherwise. LG Optimus LTE shipments exceed 1 million globally

LG has announced that they have shipped 1 million units of Optimus LTE, their first phone to come with LTE support and HD display. They announced the Optimus LTE in Korea last October for SK Telecom (SKT) and LG U+ that was popular from the first day in Korea that sold 5,000 units on the first day of the launch. Huawei Mediapad now available in India for Rs. 28000


Huawei MediaPad is finally on sale in India from online retailers after their announcement last November. It was announced globally last June and comes with a 7-inch (1280×800 IPS) LCD display, Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS (Upgradable to Android 4.0) and it is powered by Dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor.
