Today the company has finally published details about their next generation processor, the Exynos 5. Chances are that this puppy is going to end up inside the Galaxy S IV. Nokia dumps Qt and over 500 patents in an attempt to stay alive

Nokia made two very important announcements this week. The first relates to a technology known as Qt. Back in January 2008 the Finnish handset maker purchased a Norwegian company called Trolltech for roughly $150 million. The goal of the acquisition was to slap their technology, Qt, on top of S40, Symbian, and MeeGo, so that developers could write applications for Nokia devices using a unified framework. Fast forward to the present day and Nokia has yet to port Qt to S40, they’ve abandoned Symbian and MeeGo, and Stephen Elop, the current CEO, has bet the company’s future on Windows Phone. Since Nokia doesn’t need Qt anymore, they’ve decided to sell the team to a Finnish company called Digia. Some 125 employees will be moved. Details of the transaction weren’t disclosed, but it’s safe to say that Nokia received no where near what they paid for Trolltech over four years ago. Sony Xperia Tablet new images surface

New press images of the Sony Xperia Tablet has surfaced on XDA developers forum. This tablet passed through the FCC last month, and several slides of the tablet surfaced last week revealing the specs of the Sony’s upcoming tablet. TripAdvisor Augmented Reality app launched for BlackBerry smartphones

Wikitude has launched TripAdvisor Augmented Reality (AR) app exclusively for BlackBerry smartphones running on OS 7.0. It is powered by Wikitude Augmented Reality browser, that was recently updated with new features. This app lets users to instantly access an immersive view of hotels, restaurants, and attractions listed on TripAdvisor. Nokia Asha 311 launched in India for Rs. 7139


Nokia has finally launched the most expected Asha 311, their first full-touch Series 40 phone in India. It was announced in June and has 3.0-inch (240 x 320 pixels), capacitive touch screen Polarized display for better readability in sunlight, 1GHz processor and comes with 3G support. It has 3.2 MP camera and runs on S40 Asha OS with Swipe interface. It is 12.9 mm thick and weighs 95g. Nokia has also launched the Asha 305 officially, that went on sale in India last month. Sony Xperia ion now available in India for Rs. 35999

Sony Xperia ion is now available in India from online retailer Snapdeal. The LTE version was announced for AT&T at CES and released exclusively on AT&T in June. The HSPA version was announced in June. It has 4.55-inch (1280 x 720 pixels ) HD Reality display and comes with 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The global HSPA version was supposed to run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) according to the official site, but according to the Snapdeal site it runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It has 12MP auto focus camera with Exmor R mobile camera sensor with 1080p HD video recording and LED flash and 1.3MP front-facing camera. List of Windows Phone 8 Bluetooth profiles revealed

The Bluetooth SIG has finally posted the Bluetooth profile list supported by Windows Phone 8 and it looks like the number of profiles supported has improved quite a bit compared to Windows Phone 7. Addition of the OBEX (Object Exchange) profile means that the phone should theoretically be able to both send and receive objects though specifics around that remain to be revealed.

Google Nexus 7 Unboxing

I was recently in the US on a short visit and managed to pick up the Google Nexus 7 first Android Tablet to run on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Here is a quick unboxing video of the this tiny little tablet from Google & Asus which is priced at $199 (excluding tax and shipping). This 7 inch tablet has a back-lit IPS display which sports a resolution of 1280×800 pixels

Microsoft renames Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store

As part of its rebranding and simplification efforts, Microsoft plans to rename Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store on its smartphones. The new branding is expected to be rolled out with Windows Phone 7.8 on current devices and with Windows Phone 8 on next gen smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos (GT-S6802) Review
