Apple has been striving for a long time to open its retail stores in India. The iPhone and iPad maker has filed a proposal with the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) to open its own branded stores in the country, according to a report from the Economic Times.

GTA San Andreas makes its way onto Windows Phone with a select few supported devices

Grand Theft Auto is possibly one of the most controversial yet celebrated game franchises in the history of gamerkind. The company behind the series, Rockstar games, started releasing, or letting others port its games over to mobile platforms like iOS and Android. GTA III and Vice City released on both the platforms while availability still evaded the third ecosystem – Windows Phone. But when the company announced San Andreas for mobile, Windows Phone was surprisingly in the mix of platforms supported. Keeping up that promise, the company, through Wardrum studios which developed the iOS and Android versions, has made the game available on the Windows Phone store. However, the game is listed to support only a select few devices at the moment and costs a cool 6.99 USD. Microsoft to merge Windows Phone and Windows 8 app stores

At a company meeting today, Microsoft evidently let out news that the Windows Phone Store and Windows Store will be merged into a single app store. Terry Myserson who heads the operating systems group confirmed the news at an internal meeting. First reported by The Verge  and confirmed by our own sources, Myserson confirmed that the changes will appear over the next few releases of Windows and Windows Phone. The next major update for Windows is expected later this year called Windows 8.1.  A similar update for Windows Phone called Windows Phone 8.1 will follow it.

HTC opens its first ‘concept store’ in Delhi

HTC yesterday opened its first concept store in South Extension, New Delhi in India to show off its top of the line handsets. The store places an emphasis on HTC’s audio and imaging capabilities by providing two distinct sections in the store.

Microsoft renames Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store

As part of its rebranding and simplification efforts, Microsoft plans to rename Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store on its smartphones. The new branding is expected to be rolled out with Windows Phone 7.8 on current devices and with Windows Phone 8 on next gen smartphones.

Samsung today set up its first ‘Mobile Brand Store’ in New Delhi , India.  Located in the popular Select City Mall , the store is spread over 1600 sq. ft. of retail space.

Samsung’s entire range of devices spread across  price points from Rs.7350 to Rs 38,250 can be found at the store. Nokia to close NewYork and Chicago Flagship stores in 2010

Nokia is in cost-cutting mode right now. After announcing closure of its London Flagship store Nokia USA has announced closure of its New York and  Chicago flagship stores. This is sad news because I visited the London store only recently and the Chicago store last year. But in USA everything is so expensive in stores an most consumers prefer to order online.
