The 2nd generation Motorola Moto X that was released in 2014 was released running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat but eventually got the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop via an OTA update. Now, we have good news as the device has now been certified to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
We brought you the review of the Motorola Moto X Play last week. Here we have its battery life test results. The Moto X Play packs a huge 3630mAh built-in battery, compared to 2300mAh battery on the Moto X 2nd Gen. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop).
This is the third year running that Motorola have announced updates in the Moto X series of smartphones. However, this year is a little bit different as they introduced not one but 2 new smartphones in the X series. The first is a high-end model known as the Moto X Style and the second is a mid-ranger known as the Moto X Play. The X Play was recently launched in India at really competitive prices i.e Rs 18,499 for the 16GB version and Rs 19,999 for the 32GB version. The features and specifications promise to put up a fight with the other contenders in this price range. Let us take a closer look and see whether the phone lives up to expectations.
Last month there were reports that Motorola is planning to sell their smartphones through offline retail stores. Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) is not exclusively to Flipkart anymore. Today Motorola has announced that the Moto E (2nd Gen) will be available for purchase from Airtel stores offline and online retailers such as Amazon.in and Snadeal through its distribution partner Brightstar India. Motorola announced last month that it will offer patches for Stagefright exploit. Few days back it announced that it has started rolling out updates with Stagefright fixes for its smartphones globally. The Moto X Play and Moto X Style smartphones come with security patches out of the box. Motorola is rolling out new updates for Moto X (1st Gen, 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen) Moto G with 4G LTE 1st Gen, Moto E (1st Gen, 2nd Gen) and Moto E 4G LTE (2nd Gen). All these include fixes for the latest vulnerability in the Stagefright library (CVE-2015-3864).

Motorola today announced that it has sold 5.6 million smartphones in India till date. This includes all the Motorola smartphones in Moto G, Moto X and Moto E series. Earlier this year Motorola announced that it had sold 3 million smartphones in the country. It sold 2.6 million smartphones in less than 8 months. It was announced back in July and packs a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display, is powered by a Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, has a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE support and 3630mAh battery. Google has for the most part kept its distance from China, a market that has perhaps one of the largest user base of Android running devices. Government censorship and strict crackdowns mean that Google had to opt out from providing the Play Store and accompanying services in the country. The 2nd gen Moto 360 might look exactly the same as its predecessor but it brings changes in the form of choices and customization.
