HTC has finally announced the Desire EYE, the company’s latest smartphone in the Desire series with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass protection, powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with new HTC Sense UI. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 13-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, wide-angle lens and dual LED flash that makes it a perfect selfie smartphone. Last month HTC sent out invites for the Double Exposure event on October 8th. Recent leaks indicated HTC One M8 Eye with 13MP Duo Camera and a RECamera , competitor to the GoPro. Today fresh leaks from @Upleaks shows the press shots of the upcoming HTC Desire Eye smartphone with 13-megapixel cameras on the front and the back. Both have dual LED flashes next to them. Yesterday, the HTC One M8 Eye was rumored to arrive next month. Today, a press render has emerged from Weibo that shows the phone, which features a 13MP duo camera instead of a 4MP Ultra pixel one on the existing HTC One M8.

It was unveiled at the IFA 2014 earlier this month and packs a  5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU  / 1.2 GHz quad-core processor Snapdragon 410 processor and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense 6 UI on top, that it upgradable to upcoming release of Android L. HTC Desire 816G Dual SIM launched in India for Rs. 18990

HTC has launched the Desire 816G dual SIM, a cheaper variant of the Desire 816 in India. It has the same 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, similar to the Desire 816 that was launched back in April. but this is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, instead of a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and comes with 1GB RAM, instead of 1.5GB on the Desire 816. A lot a manufacturers schedule their events around the IFA that happens during this time of the year, but often not during the event is happening. This is a ploy that they employ so that their devices get due exposure.

Speaking of exposure, HTC has an event for October 8th, titled ‘double exposure’. Now that could mean anything in the world, but thanks to HTC being a smart devices maker, we have a limited list to choose from. The event is believed to be coincident with the announcement of the HTC Eye smartphone, the one that’s expected to feature a 5.2-inch display and a Snapdragon 801 processor. HTC’s tryst with unique rear-camera tech (read: UltraPixel, Duo Camera) might soon come to end with the latest announcement that’s due in some days.

‘HTC Eye’ is what the new device shall call itself. Eye… hmmm, there’s certainly going to be emphasis on imaging tech on the device, something that the invitation flyer revealed too, a couple of days back. The event for which the invites were sent out earlier this week is scheduled to take place 8th October in New York City, which is where we expect the HTC Eye to finally see light of day.
