Apple reveals Q3 2012 earnings: Net profit of $8.8 billion, $35 billion in revenues

Apple just announced its quarter 3 earnings for 2012 and the numbers appear to be slightly lower than the $37.4 billion expected by analysts. The Cupertino based company has reported quarterly net profits of $8.8billion which comes down to earnings of $9.32 per share.

Mac and iOS email app, Sparrow, gets acquired by Google

Popular iOS and Mac email app, Sparrow was acquired by Google today. Sparrow CEO Dom Leca announced via the company blog that they will be joining Google to accomplish a ‘bigger vision’.

HTC doesn’t violate Apple patents says UK Judge

Judge Christopher Floyd from a UK court has ruled that HTC does not violate four patents as claimed by Apple. This includes the infamous slide to unlock claim. More interestingly, the judge says that three of the four patents are not valid.

Google has today published an updated search application for the iPhone which provides a simpler way to access all Google apps from one place. The update boasts of faster autocompletion of search terms. Pages load faster and it is easer to access multiple pages due to a slide-in panel.

Apple might eventually allow FaceTime calls over 3G

FaceTime is one awesome feature if you work with multiple Apple devices such as the iPhone , iPad , iPod touch or Macs. You can experience video calls between these devices for free at a decent quality. The downside is that FaceTime for devices such as iPhone and iPad works only over a WiFi connection. The irony is the latest iPad supports 4G LTE networks with mind blowing speeds , yet you cannot have a FaceTime call. This might change and Apple might eventually allow FaceTime calls over 3G networks going by a screenshot in iOS 5.1.1  from a Romanian blog.
