China smartphone sales hit a new low in Q2 2022: Report

According to Counterpoint’s Market Pulse research, sales of smartphones in China fell 14.2% YoY in Q2 2022. Volumes for the quarter were less than half of the historical peak of Q4 2016 and were down 12.6% from the level seen during the severely pandemic-hit Q1 2020. Made in India smartphone shipments up 7% YoY in Q1 2022

Counterpoint Research has published an interesting market study on ‘Made in India’ smartphone shipments, which increased 7% year-on-year (YoY) in Q1 2022 to reach more than 48 million. OPPO, which also manufactures the realme and OnePlus smartphones in India, led the increase in “Made in India” shipments with a 22% increase over the previous year, followed by Samsung in second place. India Smart TV shipments up 33% YoY in Q1 2022: Report

According to Counterpoint’s television market analysis for Q1 2022, India’s overall TV market grew 33 percent year-on-year to reach its highest ever at 89 percent, with Xiaomi leading the market, followed by Samsung, LG, and others. Interestingly, the premium TV segment (> INR 30,000) increased by 68.6 percent year-on-year, rising from 23.5 percent in Q1 2021 to 33.6 percent in Q1 2022, accounting for a 10.8 percent year-on-year increase in average selling price (ASP).
