This has led to a range of portable battery accessories by manufacturers like Proporta, Nokia amongst others. Nokia added a new member to its battery line up some time back in the form of the DC-16 charging stick and we decided to give it a spin. Here’s our review.

Is battery life a problem on your android phone ? Well it’s a problem with most smartphones today and Android phones are the worst affected. What’s awesome about the Motorola RAZR MAXX is that it packs a massive 3300 mAh battery. Moto promises about 17.6 hours of talk time on this handset which is almost twice the talk time on the RAZR. Nokia’s first Windows Phone handset , the Lumia 800 has received its 3rd major update since launch. The update reportedly fixes the fairly average battery life of the handset. Initial reports estimate upto triple the battery life compared to the previous update.

We at FoneArena are big fans of Mugen Power batteries. For those who doesn’t know, Mugen Power manufacturers third party replacement batteries for smartphones. Their speciality are batteries which retains the same size as the standard battery that comes with your phone; and the extended battery with twice the capacity and size. These extended batteries are popular among power users. However today I will be reviewing the normal sized replacement battery.
The folks atHyperMac sent us the HyperMac Micro for review. The device serves as a portable charger for the iPhone and iPad. This is one of the most attractive devices we have seen and it does not look like a battery at all unless you get really close. On the inside it packs a 3600mAh battery which promises to recharge your iPhone 4 upto 3 times. It also works with the iPad but only extends the life by about 5 hours. That’s fine because the iPad packs a monstrous battery which won’t event charge via normal USB port. We are more interested about how this device works with the iPhone and it worked pretty well.

Up until now, the non-removable battery of the iPhone was just an issue that some some people pointed out as a serious problem and Apple just ignored. But it is likely to become much more significant now, due to a new legislation in the Netherlands. According to Tweakers.net (dutch text), this new law forbids selling any electronic device with a non-removable or hard to remove battery, due to recycling difficulties. Also, any electronic device should have clearly stated in its manual a way to remove the battery. T-Mobile, Netherlands’ iPhone carrier, should still be able to sell its stock of iPhone handsets, but imports of new devices will be forbidden.

One of the researchers at Stanford University might makes our lives easier . They have found a way to use silicon nanowires to significantly boost the power of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries which are commonly used in mobile phones.
The latest innovation is as a result of the battery developed through research led by Yi Cui, assistant professor of materials science and engineering, produces 10 times the amount of electricity of existing lithium-ion, known as Li-ion, batteries.
