Since the tablet was thicker than the iPad 2, Samsung decided to completely redesign the device. During the CTIA 2011, Samsung announced the redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1 and renamed the old Galaxy Tab as Galaxy Tab 10.1v. The redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1 is just 8.6 mm thick and weighs 595g compared to the Galaxy Tab 10.1v, which measures 10.9mm thick and weighs 599g.
