Nokia launches patent suit against HTC, RIM and Viewsonic

In the latest twist in the never ending saga that is mobile patent lawsuits, Nokia has today filed suit against HTC, RIM and Viewsonic alleging that their products infringe a number of Nokia patents. The claims were filed in United States and Germany, and includes complaints to the US International Trade Commission (ITC). Nokia has alleged that up to 45 patents were infringed upon. Nokia is no stranger to patent disputes, launching a similar claim against Apple a couple of years ago. The legal challenge, which resulted in a counterclaim by Apple, was settled outside the court with the house that Steve build settling an one-off payment while agreeing a cross licensing deal. HTC is also currently embroiled in a legal dispute with Apple over alleged infringements over unlicensed patents.

IDC: Mobile Phone Market Q1 2012 – Samsung, Nokia and Apple top mobile phone vendors by shipments

Samsung, Nokia and Apple are the leading Mobile vendors by shipments in Q1 2012, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). The Worldwide mobile phone market declined 1.5% year over year in the Q1 2012 with worldwide shipments of 398.4 million units compared to 404.3 million units in the first quarter of 2011. Nokia 808 PureView launching in India this month


Nokia has announced that they would start rolling out Nokia 808 PureView starting from India and Russia this month (May 2012). They announced the Nokia 808 PureView at MWC 2012, which is first smartphone to feature Nokia’s award-winning PureView technology with exclusive Carl Zeiss optics and amazing imaging algorithms. BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device First Pics

Here are the first pics of the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha device which RIM CEO Thorsten Heins showed off in the keynote few minutes ago. Although the device is only meant for developers at this point , it looks slick ! More than the hardware the BlackBerry 10 UI seems impressive. The software packs a gesture based on screen keyboard and an innovative multitasking interface.

BlackBerry OS 10 developer device unveiled at BlackBerry World

BlackBerry CEO Heins just unveiled the BlackBerry OS 10 based device which will be handed over to developers at the ongoing BlackBerry World conference in Orlando , Florida. While exact specifications are still missing , the highlight has got to be the gorgeous display on the slab.

The 4.2″ display packs in an amazing 1280×768 resolution panel which is above and beyond most other 720p panels out there. The internals include 16GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.

Nokia Asha 300 Review
