realme today launched the 16T 5G, the company’s latest smartphone in the realme 16 series with a 144Hz screen, IP68 + IP69 ratings, a huge 8000mAh battery, and military-grade durability, in India. Here we have the first impressions of the phone.

The realme 16T features a 6.8-inch HD+ LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Since it has up to 1200 nits HBM brightness and up to 975 nits typical brightness, the screen is bright even outdoors. It only has Widevine L3 certification and doesn’t have Widevine L1 certification for HD streaming in apps like Amazon and Netflix.
It has a 16-megapixel front camera. The earpiece is present on the top edge, but it doesn’t double up as a secondary speaker.
The phone has slightly thicker bezels below the display, which is common in phones with an LCD screen.
Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, the phone has up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM with up to 10GB of virtual RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone also has 5300mm² AirFlow VC vapor chamber cooling system. It runs Android 16 with realme UI 7.0.
Coming to the buttons and ports, the power button and the volume rockers are present on the right. The hybrid dual SIM slot that accepts a second SIM or microSD card that supports up to 1TB expandable memory is present on the bottom. The primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker grill are also present in the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top.
The phone has a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX852 sensor and supports up to 1080p 60fps video recording with the rear camera and 1080p 30fps recording with the front camera. A notable hardware addition is a rear-mounted mirror designed to assist users in framing selfies with the main camera that was first introduced in the realme 16. Check out some camera samples.
The realme 16T 5G features the Gleaming Wings Design, layered with shimmering multi-colored particles that reveal dynamic, sand-gradient movements as light plays across the back panel. In addition to the Aurora Green color that we have, the phone also comes in Starlight Black and India-exclusive Starlight Red colors.
The phone also has an IP69 pro-level water resistance rating, offering protection against extreme industrial-grade, high-pressure, and high-temperature 80°C water jets. Furthermore, the phone utilizes an ArmorShell 4-Layer Drop Protection Structure and has officially passed the stringent MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock resistance testing.
The phone packs a whopping 8000mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging. The battery can maintain over 80% of its original capacity after 7 years of use, according to the company. It also has Bypass Charge and Reverse Charge.
The realme 16T 5G starts at Rs. 29,999 and will be available from Flipkart, realme India online store and offline stores starting from May 27th with pre-bookings starting today. There is also bank offer so the effective starting price is Rs. 26,999.
