Nokia has started rolling out the Belle Feature pack 2 update (v 113.010.1506/07) for the 808 PureView, 700, 701 and 603. The Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 update for the Nokia 700, 701 and 603 started rolling out in April, but the 808 PureView came with FP1 out of the box. Some devices that didn’t receive the FP1 update got the Belle Refresh update in August. Sharp starts production of 5-inch 1080p Smartphone displays with 443 ppi

Japanese Electronics Manufacturers Sharp has announced that they have started producing 5-inch display for smartphones that features 443ppi pixel density and 1920×1080 pixel resolution. LG unveiled a similar 5-inch HD smartphone display back in May, but it had 440 ppi pixel density. The LG’s 5-inch display did not see an official release yet. Even LG Optimus Vu II that was announced last week features a  5-inch IPS display with 1,024 x 768 pixel resolution similar to the first Optimus Vu. Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy Note 2 Photo Gallery

When the Samsung Galaxy S3 was unveiled we felt the handset was a tad large for a smart phone. But 6 months down the lane ,  the Samsung Galaxy S3 meets it’s bigger brother the Galaxy Note 2 and looks pretty small in comparison. May be the large screen phones have grown on us ?  The S3 packs a 4.8 inch display while the Note 2 has a massive 5.5 inch display. Verizon iPhone 5 Customers Will Not Be Charged for Unintentional Cellular Data Usage Issue

Yesterday, we reported that Apple had released a carrier update for the Verizon iPhone 5. That carrier update fixed an issue that would cause Verizon Cellular Data to be used while the iPhone 5 is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Now, Verizon has issued a statement to The Loop suggesting that customers will not be charged for this data usage.

Airtel launches Unlimited Internet plan for pre-paid customers at Rs. 149


Airtel has launched a new unlimited internet pack for pre-paid subscribers. This new pack costs Rs. 149 that would offer unlimited internet usages up to 2GB on 2G, after that the speed would be throttled to 40 Kbps and would remain unlimited. Yandex to open its own Android App Store

Yandex, the leading Internet company in Russia has announced its own Android App Store. This would let them offer the new Store to OEMs for the Android tablets and Smartphones instead of Google Play Store and other Google Apps. Yandex already has a 3D user interface for Android called Yandex.Shell and other mobile apps, including Yandex.Search, Yandex.Mail, Yandex.Maps-based services. Apple iPhone 5 Unboxing

Presenting the first iPhone 5 unboxing in India exclusively only on FoneArena.  While the iPhone 5 is still not officially launched in India , we managed to get one over from Europe just to find out if the iPhone 5 is worth all the hype. NTT Docomo to launch new Mobile Translation Apps

NTT Docomo, Japan’s largest telecom operator has announced that they would launch 2 new apps, Hanashite Hon’yaku and Utsushite Hon’yaku for their customers. The Hanashite Hon’yaku is the world’s first commercial mobile service for translation that would translate the conversations between people speaking Japanese to other languages. NTT Docomo introduced a text translation app earlier this May. Apple Releases Carrier Update for Verizon iPhone 5

Today, Apple has issued a Carrier Update for Verizon iPhone 5 models. This update fixes an issue where Verizon Cellular Data would be used while the iPhone 5 is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

This carrier settings update resolves an issue in which, under certain circumstances, iPhone 5 may use Verizon cellular data while the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Follow these instructions to install the update.

1. Tap Settings > General > About.
2. Wait for the following alert to appear: (top right)
3. Tap OK to install the update.
4. Hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see “slide to power off”.
5. Slide to power off.
6. After the device powers off, hold the Sleep/Wake button to turn your phone back on.

Note: To finish the installation of the update, your iPhone 5 must be turned off and then on again. After your iPhone restarts, tap Settings > General > About, then scroll down to Carrier and verify that “Verizon 13.1” is displayed.

Apple describes this update as an “important new carrier update” and the update is provided via over-the-air.

 

Apple CEO Tim Cook apologizes for Maps on iOS 6


Apple CEO Time Cook has issued an apology letter on Apple website  regarding the new Maps app on iOS 6 saying that Apple fell short on the commitment to deliver the best experience to the customers. The new iPhone 5 sold 5 milion units in the first 3 days and the iOS 6 update started rolling out for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch last week uses Apple’s own maps instead of Google Maps that is used in more than 100 million iOS devices.
