ZTE today announced Grand X3 and Avid Plus, two new smartphones for the U.S. carriers at the CES 2016. The Grand X3 is a budget smartphone with 4G LTE support, USB Type-C and a huge 3,080mAh battery, while the Avid Plus is an entry-level smartphone. Both these run Android 5.1.1 (Lollpop). Long time back in August 2012, we had seen the Xiaomi MI-2 launch in China with it being the successor to the first MIUI phone, from the makers of the MIUI ROMs for Android. It has a 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is one of the first devices to pack the APQ8064 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 320 Graphics. It runs on the MIUI ROM based on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). We had some hands on time with the Xiaomi MI-2 at the International CES 2013 and here is a hands on video demo of it.

Lenovo unveiled range of Android smartphones at the CES 2013. We got some hands-on time with the IdeaPhone S890, the company’s high-end smartphone at CES. It has a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD IPS screen with 178 degree viewing angle and the phone is 9.3mm thick. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with Lenovo’s custom UI on top. It also has dual SIM support with dual standby.

We had shown you the hands on of the LG Optimus Vu II earlier, and with the Vu II comes an interesting real-time collaboration feature that might impress you at first sight, and that is called Vu Talk. Vu Talk works between two Optimus Vu devices over a 3G or a WiFi network. It’s basically like real-time messaging but using a stylus-laden note taking app. Check out the really impressive demo of the Vu Talk in the hands on video.

Lenovo showcased the IdeaTab S2110 at the International CES 2013 in Las Vegas earlier this month, and we got some hands-on time with the device. It has a 10.1-in IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060A processor and has a 1.3M HD front-facing camera. Android tablets with a keyboard dock is already popular with the Asus Transformer tablet, and even this one from Lenovo includes a battery, USB 2.0 ports and a 3-in-1 card reader in the optional docking station.

Lenovo launched the IdeaTab A2107, the company’s low-cost Android tablet in India earlier this month for Rs. 14,000. We got to check out the tablet at the International CES 2013. The 7.0-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) AMOLED display with 5-point capacitive multitouch display, 350 nits brightness is sharp and bright. It is powered by a 1 GHz MediaTek 6575 Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). At the top there is a 0.3MP front-facing camera and weighs 400 grams.

LG showed off the Optimus Vu II, their latest phablet at the CES 2013 that already launched in Korea last year. We got some hands-on time with the device that has a 5-inch (1,024 x 768 pixels) IPS display with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio similar to the Optimus Vu. 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor powers the device and it runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with Optimus UI 3.0 on top. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update expected soon. It has a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and a expandable memory card slot.

It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS+ display with 443 PPI and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is IPX 5/4 compliant for dust and water resistance. Huwaei’s own 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor powers the smartphone, and it runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top, similar to the Ascend Mate.

Huawei unveiled the Ascend W1, the company’s first Windows Phone handset at the CES 2013 earlier this month. We got you the hands-on photo gallery of the Ascend W1 from the event earlier this month, here is the hands-on video of the device. Even though the device has a large 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA IPS display, the phone feels compact in hand. The display has OGS Technology that reduces the light consumption for a brighter and more vivid display.
