Sony Xperia tipo and tipo dual officially launched in India for Rs. 9999 and Rs. 10499


Sony has officially launched the tipo and the tipo dual in India. Both these phones were announced in June and went on sale in India earlier this month. These phones havea  3.2-inch (480 x 320 pixels) 262k color TFT display and is powered by 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. These devices would come with 500 MB of free 3G data per month for three months for Vodafone subscribers, which is valid till 31st December 2012. Instagram updated for iPhone 5, removes live filters

Instagram, the most loved photo app/social network, which debuted on the iPhone, has been updated for the latest and the greatest iPhone, the iPhone 5. It adds support for the taller screen, meaning the resolution of the app is now 1136X640. While you are now able to see more of the app, weirdly, they have removed support for live filters. Barnes and Noble takes on the Amazon Kindle Fire with Nook HD and Nook HD+

Barnes and Nobles was recently in the lime light for making a partnership deal with Microsoft with respect to the “Nook” category of devices the book giant produces. We were wary of what the outcome might be, but in an obvious move, they are trying to battle their competitors again, with the announcement of the new Nooks, name the Nook HD and the Nook HD+. Clearly, these new Nooks are the answers to the latest Kindle Fires from Amazon, their arch rivals in the e-reader world. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launched in Korea


Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 2 in their home ground, Korea.  Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note II at IFA last month and this is their first international launch since the announcement. It packs in a 5.5-inch (1,280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Sony Xperia tipo dual Unboxing

We reviewed the Sony Xperia tipo recently. Here is the unboxing of the Xperia tipo dual, Sony’s first dual-SIM Android Smartphone. It was announced in June along with the tipo and packs in similar features as the single SIM version including a 3.2-inch (480 x 320 pixels) 262k color TFT display, 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. Apple Now Taking iPhone 5 Orders for In-store Pickup

Currently, the wait time for an iPhone 5 is 3-4 weeks, but Apple today has added an option to reserve an iPhone for next-day, in-store pickup. Apple will start accepting reservations online  between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. local time for pickup at a nearby Apple store the next day. “Buy an iPhone from the people who know it best,” according to a note on Apple’s website. 9to5Mac first reported yesterday that Apple was preparing to introduce this option.

Apple also says that  “limited quantities” of the iPhone 5 might also be available in Apple stores on a first-come, first-served basis.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to hit Online Store on September 27 in India

Samsung is gearing up to launch the upgraded version of the immensely popular Galaxy Note – Galaxy Note 2 in India later this week.  Samsung had opened pre-bookings for the device and consumers could reserve a Galaxy Note 2 by paying Rs.5000 as an advance.In an email to customers who had pre-booked the phone on the company’s eStore , it is mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be launched on the 27th on the eStore.The Note 2 has some interesting specs including a 5.5 inch display and a 3100 mAh battery and a Quad-core CPU.

LG Optimus Vu 2 specs surface, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM

LG is yet to launch the Optimus Vu globally, but the specs for the Optimus Vu 2 has surfaced on a Korean blog Bad IT Tong. The LG Optimus Vu 2 would retain the same 5-inch (1,024 x 768 pixels) IPS display with 4:3 Aspect Ratio but it would have a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor instead of a Snapdragon Scorpion processor. It would have 2GB of RAM instead of the 1GB RAM in the Vu and would come with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Google has not submitted a new Google Maps App to Apple


Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that Google has not offered a new Google Maps app to Apple, according to a report from the Reuters. The new iOS 6 update that started rolling out for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch last week uses Apple’s own maps instead of Google Maps from the pervious versions of iOS. Samsung confirms Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for range of Galaxy Smartphones and Tablets


Samsung has announced the list of devices that would receive the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update according reports from The Verge and Techcrunch. Samsung started rolling out the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy SIII yesterday starting from Poland. LTE capable Medfield chips coming soon says Intel

Intel’s smartphone powering Medfield chips have been curiously missing from the US market having seen a launch in India, China, Russia and the UK. It turns out that this might be due to their lack of support for LTE. Sumeet Syal, Marketing Chief at Intel, said in an interview that current x86 SoC’s will not support the high speed network but a modem solution will be available by the end of the year.

The capacities being introduced range from 3,500 to 7,000 mAh which should be enough for even the power users. Pink Galaxy S3 launched by Samsung in Korea

Samsung has launched the Martian Pink Galaxy S3 in Korea. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S3 in range of colors including Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey last month. This 32GB variant of the Galaxy S3 in Martian Pink color would be sold in limited numbers. It is aimed at women and younger generation.
