Airtel starts taking Pre-Orders for iPhone 5 in India, priced at Rs.45500 for 16GB

Airtel  which is one of the leading mobile operators in India has started taking Pre-Orders for the Apple iPhone 5 on its website. Airtel is promoting the iPhone 5 on its homepage and has requested interested customers to pre-order the device. The date of availability is mentioned as November 11th 2012 which is a good 10 days later than the previous November 2nd date we have been hearing from distributors.The prices seem to be exactly the same as what we had heard prior to this.

Micromax  A110 Superfone Canvas 2 is finally available for purchase online. Micromax started taking pre-orders for the phone couple of weeks back. The Dual SIM Android phone comes with a 5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. We just told you few hours back that the iPhone 5 was coming to India on November 2nd and also told about the prices at which the iPhone 5 will be selling for in India starting from Rs.45500 for the 16GB model.And now as expected Aircel has starting teasing the iPhone 5 on it’s website. The operator has a coming soon banner for the iPhone 5 on its homepage.Aircel along with Airtel were the official launch partners for the iPhone 4S in India last year.This year though Apple has appointed 2 distributors Ingram Micro and Redington for selling the iPhone 5 in India

Nexus 10 leaks, runs Android 4.2 on a 2500 x 1600 10.1″ screen

Google is widely expected to launch a second larger tablet at its upcoming Android centric event to provide a higher end offering alongside its current Nexus 7. The Nexus 10 was today leaked by BriefMobile and as expected, runs Android 4.2 on Samsung manufactured hardware. The screen is a 10.1″ unit with a resolution of 2500×1600. This results in a ppi of 298.9 which is most definitely higher than that on the iPad’s retina display.

Apple iPhone 5 Prices for India surface, starts at Rs.45500

Looks like Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 5 in India soon. Multiple retailers have started to announce the prices for the latest iPhone.The iPhone 5 might start retailing at Rs.45,500 for the 16GB model. Both White and Black versions of the phone are expected to go on sale. But still stocks are extremely limited considering the global demand for the device. Apple had reportedly appointed Ingram Micro and Redington as distributors for the iPhone 5. This was partially confirmed today as we got a press release from Ingram Micro about the same indicating a November 2nd release and now there is a link to a webpage containing the Redington logo which has popped up.

Apple iPhone 5 to launch in India on 2nd November

Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone will be available in India starting 2nd November. Instead of relying on carrier support, the company has appointed Ingram Micro and Redington as distribution partners. The pricing is believed to be Rs. 45,500 for the 16GB model while the 32GB and 64GB models will be priced at Rs. 52,500 and Rs. 59,500 but we’re still waiting on official word to confirm this.

‘Samsung did not copy’ statement published by Apple

If you’ve been following the Apple vs Samsung case you’ll know that while the German and US courts had ruled in Apple’s favor awarding them over 1 billion dollars in damages, the UK courts passed judgement that Samsung had not copied Apple. In accordance with the court’s ruling, Apple today published a statement stating that Samsung did not infringe on their copyright.

Samsung reports profit of $7.4 billion for Q3 2012


Samsung has reported operating profit of 8.12 trillion won ($7.4 billion) for the third quarter of 2012. That’s a 91% year-on-year increase . The net profit was 6.56 trillion won. The Mobile unit accounted for more than 50% of revenue with 26.25 trillion in this quarter, 82% increase year-on-year. The increase in profit in this segment is due to the increase in Smartphone shipments significantly due to global expansion of Galaxy S 3 and and mid or low-end products in competitive price points. IDC: Samsung, Apple top Smartphone vendors in Q3 2012, Nokia not in top 5


Samsung and Apple are the leading Smartphone vendors based on shipments, once again in the Q3 2012, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). Nokia loses its place in the top 5 list, while RIM enters the top 5 spot by replacing Nokia’s 3rd spot. The worldwide smartphone market saw 45.3% year-over-year growth in Q3 2012 with 179.7 million unit shipments, compared to 123.7 million units in Q3 2011.
