Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Benchmarks

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 8.0 at the MWC 2013 earlier this year. Samsung announced at the Samsung India Forum 2013 in Hyderabad last month that the tablet would launch in India as Galaxy Note 510. Samsung put the Note 510 for pre-order last week at a price tag of Rs. 30,990. Here we have the benchmarks of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5110), Wi-Fi variant of the tablet. Even though the tablet which we tested didn’t have 3G support, the benchmarks are likely to be similar since these are powered by a Exynos 4 Quad (4412) CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz and a Mali-400 MP4 GPU. Same had used this processor in the Galaxy Note 2 that was launched last year.

Idea Whiz with 4-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor coming soon for Rs. 7850

Idea Cellular is all set to launched a new Android Smartphone, Idea Whiz with a 4-inch WVGA display and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The company launched the AURUS 2, successor of the first AURUS phone recently. Even though this has a larger display and a faster processor, the phone runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) instead of Android 4.1.  It has a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. Lenovo K900 Intel Clover Trail+ powered smartphone expected to launch in India on May 10

Lenovo K900, the first Intel Clover Trail+ powered smartphone that was unveiled at the CES 2013 would be launched in India on May 10th for a price tag of less than Rs. 25,000, according to a report from NDTV Gadgets. This is the first smartphone to be powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Clover Trail+ CPU. The ZTE GEEK with a similar processor was announced earlier this month. The Xolo X1000 that was launched last month was expected to come with the Clover Trail+ CPU, but it had a 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor. The Lenovo K900 has a  5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with at 419 PPI pixel density and Gorilla Glass 2 protection and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). LG Optimus GK with 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor announced

LG has announced the Optimus GK, the company’s latest Android smartphone in the Optimus series. This has a  5-inch (1920×1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display, powered by 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) similar to the Optimus G Pro (L-04E) that went on sale in Japan earlier this month.  It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. LG Optimus F5 global roll out begins April 29 starting from France


LG unveiled the Optimus F5, an affordable LTE phone earlier this at the MWC 2013. The company has announced that the Optimus F5 would roll out globally starting from France from tomorrow. The Optimus L5 has a 4.3-inch (960 × 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Lava to launch a new tablet running Android 4.2 next month

Lava Mobiles has announced that it would launch their first tablet running on the latest Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The company launched the E-Tab XTRON, Lava’s first Android tablet running Android 4.1 back in February, which topped most of the benchmarks when compared to other 7-inch tablets. Samsung Galaxy S4 Exynos 5 Octa Benchmarks

The long awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched in India today to provide tough competition to the HTC One and Sony Xperia Z. As expected, it is the Exynos Octa version of the handset that has been launched in India. Developed by Samsung and using the ARM big.LITTLE architecture, the handset is expected to deliver exceptional battery life.

While the chip does have eight processing cores, the heavy lifting is to be done by four of the Cortex A15 type chips clocked at 1.6 GHz. Meanwhile the remaining four Cortex A7 chips running at 1.2 GHz will assist during less intensive tasks. ARM’s hypervisor working at the kernel level will switch between the A7 and A15 cores depending on intensity of the task involved. While we’ve just begun to scratch the surface of the Samsung Galaxy S4, here are a few preliminary benchmarks to give you an idea of the kind of performance to expect.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Unboxing

The Samsung Galaxy S4 was announced for the Indian market yesterday and priced at Rs.41500. Here is our unboxing video of the retail package which will go on sale in India today at several stores across India mainly in Delhi , Mumbai ,  Bangalore and Hyderabad.The Indian version packs Samsung’s Octa-core processor which is a combination of a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.

Evernote has updated the Evernote Hello app for Android to version 1.4 that brings new features including Hello Connect that uses audio tones to identify other nearby Hello users and join everyone together. If you’re in a loud environment, you can always switch to manual mode and share the four digit Hello Connect code to add a person. Alcatel One Touch launched the One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra Android smartphones last week in India for Rs. 15800 and Rs. 21000 respectively. Now the Alcatel One Touch Scribe Easy (8000D) is available in India from online retailer Snapdeal. It was announced at the MWC 2013 earlier this year and packs a 5-inch (480 x 800 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has HD sound and dedicated touch pen and magnetic MagicFlip. Samsung to launch ruggedized Galaxy S4 Active, 8-inch Galaxy Tab coming in July, says WSJ


Samsung is expected to launch a ruggedized version of  the Galaxy S4 that is likely to be called the Galaxy S4 Active, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. It will be waterproof and dust proof, but it would look similar to the Galaxy S4, according to the report. It also says that the device would be launched this summer.  According to a report techview.me, Young Soo Kim  – President Samsung Gulf has confirmed that the ruggedized  Samsung S4 would be announced in the coming weeks. Vodafone’s “All-in-one” plans for Samsung Galaxy S4 detailed

The Samsung Galaxy S4 just launched in India today, and part of the announcement was the exclusive partnership with Vodafone for bundle offers. Vodafone, one of India’s largest mobile operators has special plans for the Galaxy S4, which we slightly touched upon in the launch post, and now we are going into the details. First of all, it is called a “All-in-one” plan which means voice, text and data is included in this plan. Unlimited data and generous amounts of voice were described as a part of the offers, so lets dig in and see what the details are.

Celkon, known for its cheap value for money Android phones, including its new A119 Signature HD that we reviewed recently, has been spotted of selling its new low end Android device, the Celkon A62 on Snapdeal. The device comes with a huge 4.7 inch screen, with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. While it may not sound really exciting, we must remind you that it costs Rs. 6,799/- which is probably one of the few devices that have a huge screen at this price.

Skype arrives on Blackberry Q10 in preview form

Skype had been telling us that they are indeed working on an app for Blackberry 10, and they have fulfilled that promise by releasing their ubiquitous voice, messaging and video calling app for the newly launched BlackBerry Q10, albeit in preview form. Note that this app is not native to the platform and is the Android app directly ported over to support BlackBerry’s emulation layer. It has launched just for the BlackBerry Q10 as of now, with optimized support for that screen size.

Smartphones outship Feature phones for the first time ever – IDC

International Data Corporation(IDC), the market research firm that usually outs numbers for the mobile phone market every quarter has something new to say this quarter. According to them, the first quarter of 2013 has been the first time ever in the history of the mobile phone market that the Smartphones have outshipped feature phones. The whole worldwide mobile phone market seems to have grown 4% this quarter. Samsung still remains the leader in the mobile phone market dominating sales in both smartphones as well as feature phones.
