Wall Street Journal, the publication that is always bang on target with rumours and speculations reports that Microsoft recently held talks with Nokia to acquire its mobile phone business. The recently held meetings apparently broke down due to various reasons like price and market position. The most interesting thing is that these meetings were held recently and not a thing of the past. Recently there was a non-news that Huawei was planning to acquire Nokia and later completely denied it.

Aircel offers international roaming services for customers travelling to Myanmar


Aircel has partnered with MPT, a Government Agency, operating under the Ministry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs to offer international roaming services for its customers travelling to Myanmar. It is available for postpaid subscribers of all Aircel circles. Aircel becomes the first Indian telecom operator to offer international roaming services in Myanmar. Airtel cuts 2G data rates up to 90% on select plans

Airtel has slashed the 2G data rates up to 90 percent on select plans for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana, reports The Times of India. This comes after Vodafone’s move to cut 2G data rates up to 80% for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. Google to open Android Nation Stores in India


Google would open their first Android Nation Store in New Delhi to promote and sell Android smartphones and tablets, according to a report from Economic Times. Google would partner with Spice Global to set up the stores in various Indian cities and the first store would open up in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall and the company is supposedly seeking a location the size of 1200 to 1500 square feet, the report says. Qualcomm announces new Snapdragon 200 dual-core and quad-core chips


Qualcomm has expanded the Snapdragon 200 line-up with new set of SoCs (System On Chip) with the new Adreno 302 GPU. Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 200 chip at the CES 2013 back in January and detailed the features of the 8225Q and 8625Q it in February. The new 8×10 and 8×12 processors have ARM Cortex A7 CPUs, based on 28nm process technology and has support for HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps) and TD-SCDMA. The 8610 and 8210 would have dual-core CPUs and the 8612 and 8212 would come with quad-core CPUs, all clocked at 1.2 GHz per core and Adreno 302 GPU. Qualcomm would also release Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) versions of the processors. Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 800 processor was announced at the CES 2013 earlier this year and the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 blows the other competitors out of water. Samsung Galaxy Core (GT-I8262), a mid-range Android smartphone has been spotted on Samsung India website. It was announced last month and packs a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a  5-megapixel Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash and a 0.3MP (VGA)front-facing camera. Facebook v6.2 update for iPhone and iPad brings icons with action status updates

You might have noticed the icon with action status on the Facebook for desktop. The Facebook app for iPhone and iPad has been updated to version 6.2 that brings option to share you mood using icons along with an action you are doing in your status. This update also brings option to easily change who can see something you’ve shared which would let you keep the shared items within a group and start a new conversation with photos. This feature was introduced for Android in the 3.3 update last week. The Android app did not get the new action and icon status updates yet. HTC just introduced the successor to the Butterfly at an event in Taiwan. Called the Butterfly S, the handset looks very similar to the model it replaces. However, the phone has now been equipped with the same front facing BoomSound speakers as seen on the HTC One. The operating system too gets the HTC’s spanking new Sense 5 UI layer that we quite liked when we reviewed the One.

Opinion – Why 3G Fair Usage Policy is Retarded

Interrupting my usual Internet binging over a daily 2 hour commute, was a message from my operator. The message said I had exhausted my 2 GB limit for high speed internet this month, and now will be forced to a ridiculously low speed of 64 kbps. Say what?! Yes, I understand the concept of a fair usage policy thank you very much, and hey, apparently, I can either go through with the reduced speeds or order an add-on pack for an additional 250 rupees for a GB of 3G data. How lovely!

Nokia 301 Dual SIM phone now available in India for Rs. 5149


Nokia 301 that was announced earlier this year at the MWC 2013 is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. It has a 2.4-inch  (320 x 240 pixels) display and runs on Series 40 OS. One of the main highlight of the device is its 3.2-megapixel rear camera with unique panorama, sequential shot which takes shots at 3-5 fps. It also lets you choose the perfect picture and self-portrait feature that uses voice prompts to tell you how to position the phone so your face is properly in the frame. It comes with dual SIM support with Easy Swap Dual SIM. It has Nokia Slam Bluetooth sharing feature.
