Ringing Bells has launched the Freedom 251, as it had promised. This becomes the cheapest smartphone in India. The company launched India’s cheapest 4G smartphone, Smart 101 at Rs. 2,999 recently. It has a 4-inch qHD display, is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor, has 1GB of RAM, comes with 3G connectivity and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.

Samsung has announced Exynos 7 Octa 7870 processor based on 14-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology for next-generation mid-range smartphones, few days after Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core 14nm SoC. It has built-in LTE Cat.6 modem that would offer download speed of 300Mbps and FDD-TDD joint carrier aggregation. Celkon has launched CT111, the company’s latest budget WiFi tablet. It has a 7-inch WVGA screen, is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera without flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. Even though doesn’t have SIM support, it supports 3G dongle via OTG. Snapdeal secures $200 million in funding from Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan

Snapdeal has received a funding of $200 million Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), Iron Pillar and other investors. The latest round of funding values the company between $6.5 billion and $7 billion, making it the second-highest valued startup in the country. Flipkart owns the top spot as India’s largest e-commerce company and values at nearly $15 billion.
