Sony has launched Xperia C5 Ultra Dual, the company’s latest selfie-focused smartphone in India. It was announced earlier this month and packs a 6-inch 1080p display with 0.8mm slim bezels, is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, LED flash and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with Exmor RS sensor and selfie flash. It also comes with 4G LTE support. Facebook has updated its Moments app with a bunch of new features. Launched in June this year, the app which uses facial recognition to share your photos easily is now available in more countries including India.
Airtel has launched its 4G LTE services in Kozhikode in Kerala, after it launched in Kochi yesterday. It also launched 4G LTE services in Kohima and Dimapur in Nagaland after running successful trails in Shillong, Agartala, Aizawl, Imphal and Tawang. Airtel launched 4G services in 296 towns across India earlier this month. Airtel 4G is available to customers across mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in these cities. Meizu has launched its flagship MX5 smartphone in India at its brand launch event, as expected. This is Meizu’s third smartphone to launch in India after the m1 note and the m2 note smartphones. The MX5 was announced in China back in June and packs a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor, Flyme OS 4.5 based on Android 5.0 (Lollipop), 20.7-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash, laser auto focus that promises 0.2 seconds focus, 4K video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Uber today introduced UberSUV in Bangalore, which is already present in some cities such as Hyderabad and Mumbai. UberSUV offers a bigger vehicle that seats up to 6 people or carries more luggage compared to other options and costs the same as UberBLACK. It is available under a new tab when you choose UberBLACK. OPPO, one of the popular Chinese smartphone makers today announced that it has appointed Mike Wang as its new CEO for India. He will replace Tom Lu, who was CEO since the company’s entry into India last year. He was key to the company’s expansion of their footprint in the Indian market, who now moves on to a bigger role globally, said OPPO. Choice is good. Yes or No? That is a statement that has been debated by many over the course of history and I am a believer of the former. I believe that the more the number of choices you have the better it is. Sure, it does get tougher to make the right choice as the lines between the choices gets thinner with each additional choice. This is the case with smartphones in India particularly in the sub 18k price segment. A while back we didn’t have much choice in this segment. You got a number of models that you could count on your fingers and most often than not each one was very different from one another and each came with a set of flaws that you had to live with. Fast forward to the introduction of the Moto G and Moto E as well as Xiaomi’s entry into India where users started getting better value for money and no longer had to compromise with the handset they got. In 2015, we now have more brands than we had handsets in this price range a few years back. Each brand brings us good value for money with their own twist on it trying to tempt users to purchasing their phones. While each does have its drawbacks, the drawbacks are often minimal and each smartphone delivers good value for money. The Elephone P8000 is one such phone that promises just that and is set to enter the Indian market under the iberry branding as the Auxus P8000 Prime. We spent a good amount of time with the device and got to know its positives and negatives. In this review, we will take a look at whether the phone lives up to that promise and whether the Rs 14,990 price tag is worth spending on.
