India shipped a total of 52.6 million handsets in Q1 CY 2016, against 55.4 million in 1Q CY 2015, registering a decline of 4% YoY, according to CMR’s India Mobile Handset Report. The QoQ decline was 12.8%.

Xiaomi has announced MIUI 8, the latest MIUI ROM at an event in Beijing along with the Mi Max smartphone. It brings a new design and several new features, including new fonts. HTC has announced financial results for Q1 2016. The Taiwanese smartphone maker has recorded $454 million (NT$14.8 billion) in revenue, down 64% as it was $1.3 billion (NT$41.52 billion) in Q1 2015.

Google has launched RailWire free WiFi service across five more railway stations in India. The service under which Indian Railways, RailTel and Google provide free WiFi to passengers has now expanded to Ujjain, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati and Allahabad railway stations.

It has a 6.44-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 or Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 SoCs, runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with One-handed mode and shortcut dock to launch apps easily. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back. Lenovo has launched its Zuk Z1 smartphone in India in a crowd-sourced launch, as it had promised. The smartphone was introduced back in August last year, packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by Snapdragon 801 SoC, packs 3GB of RAM, runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Andriod 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
