YotaPhone 2 with 5-inch 1080p AMOLED and 4.7-inch e-Ink screens launched for 699 Euros

Yota Devices launched the YotaPhone 2 in Russia yesterday. It was officially launched at an event in London few hours back. Originally announced at the MWC earlier this year, the YotaPhone 2 has a a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display, is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a full-touch control on its always-on electronic paper display (EPD) on the other side. The full-touch E Paper screen offers up to 50 hours of battery life when reading on the always-on display. O2 CEO: Three takeover is unlikely

O2’s Chief Executive Officer, Ronan Dunne, has claimed that reports of a takeover of the operator by rival Three UK is unlikely. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Three could join both BT and Vodafone in eyeing up either EE or O2 for an acquisition but O2’s CEO says that a Three takeover is the least likely of all scenarios. Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Review – enter the challenger

The smartphone industry is on what seems to be a never ending trend where handsets are getting larger and larger and continually blurring the boundaries that separate smartphones from tablets. Samsung were arguably the first to offer a consumer-focused large screen device in the Galaxy Note and the success of this phablet alerted rival manufacturers to the possibilities of a large screen device.

In the case of Chinese manufacturer Huawei, their latest phablet is their third generation handset and the Ascend Mate 7 definitely packs a punch. Not only does it have the highest screen to body ratio of any smartphone but it also has a specs list that can rival most devices, including the latest from Samsung in the form of the Galaxy Note 4.

Now the OnePlus JBL E1+ Earphones, Silver Bullet Earphones, Flip covers, Protective clear case and screen protector are available in India from online retailer Amazon. Google releases Android 5.0.1 factory images, pushes AOSP builds

Almost three weeks after releasing the OTA updates and pushing Android 5.0 (Lollipop) factory images, Google has released factory images for Android 5.0.1 for the Nexus 9, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2013) and also pushed the same to AOSP. There is no official changelog for this minor update, but according to a commenter over at the Android Police, this update is to fix a bug that could cause stray input on the lock screen to erase everything on the device. YotaPhone 2 launched in Russia, to go on sale in Europe this week

Yota Devices announced the YotaPhone 2 back in February at the MWC. Last month the company announced that the smartphone would be launched at an event in London on December 3rd. It launched the smartphone at an event in Russia today and it is priced at 32,990 Rubles (US$605 / 490 Euros approx). It is available for purchase from the official online store in Russia. At the event the company’s CEO confirmed to Sputnik that it will go on sale in Europe this week. It will roll out in 20 European countries this year and will go on sale in China and the rest of Asia-Pacific early 2015 with Canada and Latin America later. Vivo X5 Max with 4.75mm thin body to be announced on December 10

Vivo is all set to unveil the Vivo X5 Max smartphone at an event in China on December 10th. The main highlight of the smartphone is its 4.75mm slim body, thinner than the 4.85mm Oppo R5, which is currently the world’s slimmest smartphone. The smartphone got certified on TENAA last month. Vodafone Ireland launches 4G+ (LTE Advanced)

Vodafone Ireland has begun rolling out its next-generation 4G+ LTE-Advanced network in Waterford City with further plans to roll out the service in the cities of Cork, Dublin and Limerick by the end of December. Now the smarpthone is available for purchase from retail stores for Rs. 9,599, according to Mumbai-based retailer Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom, It has a 4.5-inch WVGA display, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (Kitkat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has support for 14 Indian languages.
