MediaNama is reporting that Online Retailer Flipkart.com is all set to acquire competitor LetsBuy.com . Flipkart is the leading online retailer in India and has taken the India e-commerce market by storm. LetsBuy has been giving a tough fight to Flipkart especially in Mobile Phones and Tablets with competitive pricing and coupons. I have shopped on both Flipkart and LetsBuy and have noticed some products which are not available on Flipkart are available on LetsBuy as the latter seems to have a larger inventory. Nokia moves device assembly to factories in Asia to improve time to market

Handset maker Nokia is moving its device assembly to it’s factories in Asia in a strategic move to improve time to market for it’s products. The 3 factories Komarom, Hungary, Reynosa, Mexico and Salo, Finland will no longer assemble devices but will only offer smartphone product customization aimed at customers in Europe and the Americas.Such a move is not surprising as a major portion of all electronic goods are manufactured in Asia due to lower costs and close proximity to component suppliers. BlackBerry maker RIM gets a new CEO Thorsten Heins

BlackBerry maker RIM has appointed Thorsten Heins as it’s new CEO. RIM has been facing stiff competition from iPhone and Android devices and lost a lot of market share in the US. The company has been drawing a lot of criticism from investors who have been demanding a management overhaul for several months now as the shares of the company have trading at lower levels. With the appointment of the new CEO, the current c0-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Basillie are stepping down from their posts as co-CEOs but will still be part of the company’s board .Despite losing market share and facing plenty of competition BlackBerry devices are still unbeatable when in comes to handling Email. But that comes with a price tag as BlackBerry devices need to be used with a special plan.BlackBerry OS 7 devices were launched last year and BlackBerry 10 devices which pack QNX are expected to be launched this year.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus India Launch postponed to March ?

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is actually a sweet device and currently the only one in the world according to my knowledge to run on Android 4.0 also known as ICS. The Galaxy Nexus is the 3rd member of the Nexus family of devices from Google and it is a c0-branded handset from Google and Samsung which runs on stock Android without any customization. The device was supposed to be launched in November last year and was postponed to December. Now more bad news as Samsung India’s official account tweeted that the device will now be tentatively launched in March. Still no definitive date though.  Having used the Galaxy Nexus for around a month now , I actually like the device for a few  things – Ice Cream Sandwich ,  it will be the first device to get Android updates as it is pushed directly by Google. The Camera is also incredibly fast. One thing i dislike about the device is the low quality of build materials used. Each time I open the back cover, I have a feeling it will break. Rumour : Apple might open Retail Stores in India soon

apple store india
Apple might open it’s own Retail Stores in India soon according to a report by LiveMint which quotes an unnamed source in a government body Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. The Indian government has approved 100% Foreign Direct Investment FDI in Single Brand Retail recently. So such a move by Apple will not be surprising,as they have massive expansion plans for Asia. Apple has not commented much about India in particular in the past but the quick launch of the iPad 2 with decent pricing and iPhone 4S with crazy pricing are indications of things to come.  The most popular tablet I see when I travel in India is the iPad and I have spotted a lot of iPhones as well.
