Airtel today announced that it has commercially launched its 4G LTE services in Chidambaram, Sriperumbudur and Karaikudi in Tamilnadu. It was the first operator to launch 4G in Tamilnadu back in June 2015. Airtel 4G is available to customers across mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in the towns. For existing Airtel customers, the company is offering a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G. Airtel launched its 4G LTE services in Kochi, Kerala back in August last year. Today the company has launched it in Guruvayoor and Kottayam, taking the number of its 4G towns in Kerala to 150. Airtel 4G is available to customers across mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in the cities. For existing Airtel customers, the company is offering a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G. Idea Cellular has selected Nokia to provide the technology for its 4G LTE rollout in three of its key regional circles – Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. Nokia will also expand Idea Cellular’s 3G network in four circles, as well as modernizing and expanding its 2G networks in six circles. Bharti Airtel has announced that the company and its subsidiary, Bharti Hexacom have entered into definitive agreements with Aircel and its subsidiaries, Dishnet Wireless to acquire rights to use 20 MHz of 2300 Band 4G spectrum for eight circles – Tamil Nadu (including Chennai), Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Assam, North East, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 3,500 crore.

Airtel has commercially launched its 4G LTE services in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. With the roll out, 4G is now present in 25 towns in the state. It has also expanded 4G coverage in 15 towns in the state of Telangana . Airtel 4G is now available in mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in these towns. BSNL is the latest telecom company that is foraying into 4G and is looking forward to launch services in 14 telecom circles, according to a latest report from PTI. Idea Cellular has launched its 4G LTE services in North East, after it launched 4G services in Orissa last month. It launched 4G services across five states in South India – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana in December last year. Idea 4G is now present in 9 circles. Today, Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu while presenting Railway Budget 2016-17 in Parliament said that the Indian Railways in partnership with Google offer Wi-Fi services at 400 stations across India in the next 2 years.
