Elephone P8000 announced – Worldmode LTE and 4200mAH battery for US$210

Elephone has just announced the P8000 which is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 SoC. The MT6753 is basically an under-clocked MT6752 SoC but with Worldmode LTE support and the P8000 is one of the first phones to implement it. This means that it will work with 4G networks across the globe.

Airtel launches 4G LTE trials in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam

Airtel has launched its 4G LTE trails in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam, after launching 4G trails Mumbai and Chennai last week. It is based on 1800MHz FDD-LTE band 3, which the company acquired last year. Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam become second and third cities in the country to get Airtel’s FDD-LTE service, after Chennai. Airtel currently offers TDD-LTE services in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Amritsar. Airtel has launched its 4G LTE trials in Mumbai, few days after it started 4G trials in Chennai. This is based on 2300MHz TDD-LTE band 40. It also offers TDD-LTE services in Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Amritsar. For existing Airtel customers, the company is offering a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G. After earlier reports, Airtel has officially launched its 4G LTE trails in Chennai. It is based on 1800MHz FDD-LTE band 3, which the company acquired last year. Chennai becomes the first city in the country to get the Airtel’s FDD-LTE service. It currently offers TDD-LTE services in Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Amritsar. It is currently offering complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G. MediaTek announces the Helio X20 – World’s first 10 core SoC with Tri-cluster CPU

Norway to Turn off FM Radio in 2017

Norway’s Minister of Culture announced that Norway will become the first country to turn off FM Radio to complete their transition over to digital radio in the year 2017. FM (Frequency Modulation) Radio was patented back in 1933 and it has been a very popular and successful audio medium for almost a century.

NTT Docomo to launch 225 Mbps LTE-Advanced service in March

NTT Docomo has announced that it will launch its LTE-Advanced service in Japan next month that would offer download speed of up to 225Mbps and upload speed of up to 50Mbps. It uses carrier aggregation technology that would allow the operator achieve its ultra-high speed download speed, which will be further accelerated to a maximum 300Mbps towards the end of the next fiscal year ending in March 2016.
