Qualcomm purchased Nuvia in July 2021, which is a company that used to specialize CPU and technology design. At the Investor Day 2021 in November, the company said that it will start building its own chips for laptops in 2022. Apple has finally started rolling its Self Service Repair programme, after it was announced in November last year. This will provide repair manuals as well as genuine Apple parts and tools to people who want to repair their iPhones themselves via the Apple Self Service Repair Store. This action corresponds with initiatives to broaden access to repairs. Later this year the program will also include manuals, parts, and tools to perform repairs on Mac computers with Apple Silicon.
