Sony has scheduled its Xperia product launch event on April 14th in which the company is expected to launch the new Xperia 1 IV flagship smartphone as well as Xperia 10 IV alongside. Sony already confirmed that it will launch new Xperia phones powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform, so we can expect the chip in the flagship.
CAD-based renders that surfaced a couple of months back revealed a 6.5-inch flash display with the front camera on the top bezel, similar to the predecessor. It also revealed a metal frame, glass back, side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dedicated camera shutter button on the side. The phone might come in dual colour options, including a matte greenish and black colour, according to the render.
The phone is said to measure 164.7 x 70.8 x 8.3~9.5mm, making it slightly smaller, but a bit thicker than the Xperia 1 Mark III, so it might pack a slightly bigger battery. The Xperia 1 IV is said to retain the 3.5 mm audio jack, and the triple rear cameras, including the telephoto camera, probably with a similar variable telephoto lens as the predecessor.
The CAD-based render for the Xperia 10 IV that surfaced last month revealed a flat rear frame with curved edges, a compact design that includes a 6.0″ OLED panel, dual front-firing speakers as well as a fingerprint scanner on the side. It is expected to come in black, white, mint green, and berry blue colours.
It is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 690 5G SoC along with 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of ROM. The phone’s battery capacity is expected to be, 4000mAh.
The Sony Xperia launch event on May 11th will start at 16:00 JST / 9:00 CEST (12:30 PM IST), and it is live streaming the event, as usual. We should know the complete specifications when the phones go official in a couple of weeks.
