It is finally here – The BlackBerry Z10 in both Black and White, the first BlackBerry 10 phone from Research in Motion which is dropping the RIM branding. The phone packs a nice 4.2 inch display with 356 pixels per inch. In terms of internals , it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and packs 2GB of RAM. It is powered by the BlackBerry 10 OS.

California-based Whatsapp inc., the ubiquitous internet messaging service that rapidly became popular on all SmartPhone platforms has been facing privacy issues since its humble beginnings, but it was stepped up another notch when Dutch and Canadian privacy investigators found some disturbing violations relating to how Whatsapp handles the contacts library. However, once the investigation was over, with Whatsapp offering to fix some flaws quickly, the issue seems to be partly resolved. But authorities say it is far from over, and there is more work to be done, from Whatsapp’s end.
In a surprising move , Netgear which is famous for its networking gear including wireless routers and switches has entered into the mobile data device market by acquiring the AirCard business from Canada based Sierra Wireless. I personally own a Sierra Wireless AirCard USB modem and a huge fan of the same. Sierra Wireless is huge in the US and offers USB modems and MiFis for AT&T , Sprint and Verizon Wireless

It’s always hard to imagine how people are putting up with carrier restrictions in countries like the United States of America. While we Indians have been more than blessed with carrier independent phones from get go, it’s now apparently getting harder in the other side of the planet. The Digital Millenium Copyright Act(DMCA) had termed manual user level unlocking of phones illegal in October last year, but had provided a 90 day window for getting the phones unlocked. That 90 day window is getting over on January 26 this year, and from that day on, user unlocking of any phone will be termed illegal.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Grand in India at a launch event in Delhi. The Galaxy Grand packs a really big 5 inch display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor. If you notice in the above photo , you can find the Duos branding on the top right of the phone which is found on Samsung’s Dual SIM devices. The Galaxy Grand does offer Dual SIM functionality and Samsung is calling it Smart Dual SIM. The Galaxy Grand has been priced at Rs.21500 MRP

Huawei has now arrived to the phablet party in a size that rivals the Galaxy Note II. Along with the Ascend D2, Huawei’s flagship device, the Ascend Mate has been announced at the Huawei CES press conference. The 6.1 Ascend Mate has a 720p screen and the same K3V3 1.5 GHz quad core processor that is produced in house, by Huawei. We have seen the leaks and we definitely saw this coming. Yes, Huawei has unveiled the new Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate at CES today, at their press conference. It has a 5 inch full HD 1080p screen, which means that it will join the ranks of HTC’s J Butterfly and many more Android devices to come this year. The phone sports a 1.5 GHz Quad core in house K3V3 processor and runs on Android Jellybean. The battery is rated at 3000 mAH and the device sports a 13 megapixel rear camera.
