Chinese smartphone maker Phicomm entering India with Passion P660 LTE on June 3

After some reports that Chinese smartphone maker Phicomm will enter India in June, the company has confirmed that it will launch the Passion P660, the company’s first 4G LTE smartphone on June 3rd. It was introduced last month, and packs a 5-inch 1080p screen, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone is just 7.4mm thick, weighs 110 grams and has premium magnesium alloy build.

Cyanogen officially introduces upcoming Platform SDK

Cyanogen Inc, which is known to be working on a Platform SDK, has now briefed some of the feature of its upcoming addition to the open source project CyanogenMod. Google releases Android 5.1.1 factory images for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 (3G), Nexus 7 2013 (LTE)

Google has released factory images of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 (3G), and Nexus 7 2013 (LTE) devices. The OTA update should also start to roll out for these devices now.

Apple planning to change OS X and iOS fonts to the one used in Apple Watch

Apple is currently using a font called ‘Helvetica Neue’ for OS X and iOS that debuted with Yosemite and iOS 7 respectively. They plan to replace the font in the upcoming iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 updates with ‘San Francisco’, the font that is currently used in the Apple Watch.

Motorola DROID Turbo to receive Lollipop update in June

The Motorola DROID Turbo that is available in the USA on Verizon’s network was launched in India as the Moto Turbo in March. The Moto Turbo came preloaded with Android Lolliopop 5.0 out of the box. The DROID Turbo and the Mexican variant known as the Moto Maxx still haven’t gotten the update though and are still running on KitKat 4.4.4.

Oppo has announced Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus, two new smartphones in the R series. The Oppo R7 has a 5-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display and runs on Color OS 2.1 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat), while the Oppo R7 Plus features a 6-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display and runs on Color OS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). Both these smartphones are powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU for the international variant. These have metal body and 2.5D Arc Edge screen.
