OPPO announces AOSP ROMs for their devices

As we’ve said in the past, one of the main issues with OPPO is their software or rather the slow rate at which they release updates for their smartphones. Most OPPO smartphones run on older versions of Android and with ColorOS on top. While some users may be fine with the ColorOS UI, not many are fine with being stuck on an older Android version. Thus, OPPO’s announcement for AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROMs for their devices will come as a big joy to many users and prospective buyers alike.

Cyanogen officially introduces upcoming Platform SDK

Cyanogen Inc, which is known to be working on a Platform SDK, has now briefed some of the feature of its upcoming addition to the open source project CyanogenMod. Sony unleashes AOSP source code for Xperia Z3, Z2 and Z1

Sony has posted source code and binaries for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. The company is yet to release the Android Lollipop Update for these devices, however it has already confirmed that it will release it soon.

AOSP commit suggests Android to replace Dalvik with ART in upcoming release

When Android KitKat rolled out we got our first glimpse of what could be the new runtime heading to Android. Dubbed ART, it was introduced as a preview for enthusiast users and came with a fare share of warnings. Code changes spotted in a recent commit to the AOSP ie Android Open Source Project suggest that the switchover from Dalvik to ART may be coming sooner rather than later. Now face unlock with Android 4.0 in your Nexus S

Nexus S received the Android 4.0 update a few weeks back though not all the features of ICS were available in the Nexus S update and one of the feature was Face unlock and the the main reason behind that was the VGA front camera. Many of the Nexus S users were really upset about the decision taken by Google, but the developer community is always there to look out for all the consumers and now this time they have taken the official update and have embedded face unlock into it.
