Sony Xperia Z with 5-inch 1080p display, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 13MP camera announced

 

Sony has finally announced the Xperia Z, their latest flagship at CES 2013. It has a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU. It has a 13MP camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and video. It has IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance and has PlayStation Mobile support. Huawei launches the 6.1 inch Ascend Mate at CES

Huawei has now arrived to the phablet party in a size that rivals the Galaxy Note II. Along with the Ascend D2, Huawei’s flagship device, the Ascend Mate has been announced at the Huawei CES press conference. The 6.1 Ascend Mate has a 720p screen and the same K3V3 1.5 GHz quad core processor that is produced in house, by Huawei. And even more amazing is the fact that the gigantic 6.1 inch display is supported by a huge 4050 mAH battery.

Huawei Ascend D2 announced at CES, 5 inch 1080p 1.5 GHz Quad core Android Jellybean

 

We have seen the leaks and we definitely saw this coming. Yes, Huawei has unveiled the new Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate at CES today, at their press conference. It has a 5 inch full HD 1080p screen, which means that it will join the ranks of HTC’s J Butterfly and many more Android devices to come this year. The phone sports a 1.5 GHz Quad core in house K3V3 processor and runs on Android Jellybean. The battery is rated at 3000 mAH and the device sports a 13 megapixel rear camera.

Intel introduces Atom Z2420 for emerging markets, Lava announced as the partner

Intel just unveiled its new SoC platform for value smartphones in emerging markets. It is codenamed the Atom Z2420, and it directly aimed at the ever burgeoning mid range smartphone market that craves for powerful hardware. And it looks like Intel might have just the solution for value smartphones, yes, that’s what they call mid range devices now. The platform was unveiled today along with a reference device with a 3.5 inch screen, 5 megapixel camera that can shoot 7 frames per second and 1080p full HD video.

Zen Ultraphone U4 Dual SIM Android phone with 4.3-inch display launched for Rs. 6499

Zen Mobiles has launched Ultraphone U4, successor of the Ultraphone U1. It has a 4.3-inch (800 × 480 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, but most of the specifications are similar to the Ultraphone U4, including a Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, 1 GHz processor and 2G / GRPS support. It comes with a 3.2MP camera with flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes pre-loaded with apps such as Facebook, twitter and opera mini. Byond Mi-book Mi7 with 3G, Voice calling, Android 4.0 launched for Rs. 11499

Byond Tech has launched Mi-book Mi7, the company’s first 7-inch tablet with 3G support and voice calling features. Byond launched Mi-book Mi5 , a 7-inch tablet last year with 2G voice calling support last year, but the Mi-book Mi7 has a better 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive 5-point multi-touch display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and comes with a 2MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera. It also comes pre-loaded with office suite.

Videocon VT10 10-inch tablet officially launched for Rs. 10999


Videocon has officially launched the VT10 10-inch Android Jelly Bean tablet in India. It went on sale from online retailers Snapdeal and HomeShop18 last week. It has a 10-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) capacitive multi-touch IPS display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2MP Front Camera and a 2MP Rear Camera. Facebook Messenger for Android and iPhone updated with Voice Messaging

Facebook has updated Messenger app for Android and iPhone that brings option to send quick voice messages to your friends. You can choose a friend or a group of friends and select the attach button next to the text area, to record voice messages. You need to press and hold the record button to record a message, which shows the number of seconds the voice is being recorded. Spice has launched Stellar Virtuoso (Mi-495), their new Android smartphone with a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) one-glass solution (OGS) capacitive touch screen IPS display. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It comes with an 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM support with Dual Standby. The company launched 3 Stellar phones last year. Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010 with 10-inch display, Android 4.1 launched for Rs. 12999

Spice has entered into the tablet market with the launch of the Stellar Pad Mi-1010 in India that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with Quadcore GPU. It has a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. LG Optimus 2X Android 4.0 update now available in India

LG Optimus 2X (LGP990) users have finally received the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in India. LG started rolling out the ICS update for Korean users back in August and for European users, earlier this month. The LG Optimus 2X launched in India last April with Android 2.2 (Froyo) on-board and later received the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) back in November. Micromax A101 with 1GHz dual-core processor now available for Rs. 9999

Micromax A101, an upgraded version of the Micromax A100 is now available in India from online retailers Snapdeal and Flipkart. Even though the Micromax A110 that was officially launched last month has better specifications, the A101 comes with almost similar features as the A100 but has a slightly improved 2100 mAh battery. It comes with a 5-inch (480 x 800 pixels) WVGA display instead of a FWGA display on the A100 and the A100 and also comes with four capactive touch buttons at the bottom. Karbonn Smart Tab 8 with 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 now available for Rs. 7025

Karbonn Smart Tab 8, a new Android tablet in the Smart Tab range is now available online from Saholic. The Karbonn Smart Tab 8 (Velox) comes with a 1.5 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8.0-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) display, 3MP rear  camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The company launched Smart Tab 10 10-inch tablet with a similar processor and Android 4.1 OS few weeks back and launched the Smart Tab 9 and Smart Tab 3 back in October. Highest number of Android and iOS devices get activated on Christmas Day

Looks like everyone did wait till Christmas day to open their presents, as it has been reported that Android and iOS device activation was the highest ever on December 25th. According to Flurry analytics, 17.4 million Android and iOS devices were activated on Christmas day compared to an average of 4 million activations on any other day, which is an increase of a whopping 332%.

Samsung confirms Jelly Bean update to Galaxy Note, brings multi-window

Premium suite for the original Galaxy Note was rumored to come with multi-view window, Google Now, video preview with S pen in air, etc. Now Samsung has confirmed this premium suite will be heading to Galaxy Note.
