Samsung Galaxy M30 Android Pie One UI update starts rolling out in India

Samsung has finally started rolling out Android 9.0 (Pie) One UI 1.1 update for the Galaxy M30, few days before it had promised. The phone was launched in February running Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Samsung Experience 9.5. Apart from the One UI visual changes, there are many other changes and new features including new adaptive themes for the keyboard that change based on the app you’re currently using, Scene Optimizer for the Camera app, and more.

OnePlus 7 Pro OxygenOS 9.5.4 update brings camera improvements

OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 9.5.4 update (OxygenOS 9.5.5 for Europe as per Google’s instructions) that brings optimizations for double tap to wake and ambient display and audio for Bluetooth headset when playing games as well as camera improvements for HDR, low-light, fixes for white balance and focus issues.

Samsung Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 Android Pie update to roll out in India from June 3

Samsung launched the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and the Galaxy M30 smartphones this year in India. All these run Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Samsung Experience 9.5, compared to Android 9.0 (Pie) with One UI in the latest Galaxy A series. Today the company has announced that all the three smartphones will get  Android 9 Pie update, bringing important improvements and security patches starting from June 3, 2019.

OnePlus 3 and 3T OxygenOS 9.0.2 Android Pie stable update starts rolling out

OnePlus has finally released Android Pie stable update for OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones with OxygenOS 9.0.2, as it had promised last year. It rolled out Android Pie beta update for the phones last month. OnePlus 3 and 3T were launched back in 2016 running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). This is the third major Android update for the phones after Android Nougat in 2017 and Android Oreo update last year. The company has already guaranteed Android security updates for the phones till November 2019.

Google services banned on upcoming HUAWEI smartphones as Google suspends business with the company [Update: Existing devices will get security updates]

Google today announced that it has suspended some of its business operations with HUAWEI which includes a ban on using Google Services and Play Store. According to reports, the upcoming smartphones from HUAWEI won’t have access to Google services.

Realme releases Android Pie ColorOS 6 update schedule

realme already confirmed that its older devices will get Android 9.0 (Pie) update along with ColorOS 6 soon. The company event rolled out Android Q beta 3 for its latest realme 3 Pro smartphone, which is the first phone in the range to support it. Now the company has confirmed that it will start beta testing for the Android Pie based ColorOS 6 update starting next week. This will also add Hyper Boost 2.0 for the devices with the update, expect realme 2, C1, and C2.

Google releases latest Android Distribution data: Android Pie now on 10.4% devices, Oreo adoption climbs to 28.3%

Google is out with the latest Android distribution numbers for the month of May 2019. The company is posting this data after six months when Android Pie was not in the list since it was below 1%. Now, after nine months after Android Pie stable update started rolling out, it is running in just 10.4% devices. From 21.5% back in October last year, Android Oreo (8.1 and 8.0) is now on 28.3%.

HUAWEI P30 Pro Review: A Leap Forward

Google rolls out May 2019 Android security update for Pixel devices, also available for Essential Phone

Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Pixel devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. Xiaomi Redmi Go Review: Every 500₹ matters

India is a big country, with a big spectrum of consumers buying smartphones. You can find almost every price category being contested upon by a large number of companies, big and small. While the 10-15K segment garners most attention, the lower end 5K segment is seeing a quiet but important upgrade. The Redmi Go (4,500₹) is for the first time smartphone buyer who is coming from a mostly-offline world. For them, every 500 Rs. matters indeed, as Xiaomi representatives emphasised at the launch event.

I’ve been using the Redmi Go for a while now to understand whether it is worth recommending to the first time buyer. This is my review.
