Google officially rolls out Duplex-powered assistant to book movie tickets on Android

After lots of speculations and teasing, Google is finally bringing Duplex artificial intelligence guidance to users booking movie tickets online through Assistant in the US and UK. This new feature is built on existing Duplex technology that can book restaurant reservations over the phone.

This feature was first teased back in Google I/O 2019 and can be accessed through Google Assistant or Google app on Android. Just ask Assistant or search on Google through Android phones to check out suitable show time and location.

For example, ask the Assistant something like, “Hey Google, showtimes for [movie] in Phoenix this weekend.”

Then the assistant takes you through the steps of picking seats and can enter your payment info for you if you have it saved in Chrome. According to Google, this ticket booking service is compatible with more than 70 cinemas and ticketing services, such as Fandango, MovieTickets.com, AMC, or MJR Theaters in the US, or ODEON in the UK.

Furthermore, Google is planning to expand Google Assistant/Duplex on the web to more complex tasks in the future with car rentals coming next.
