OPPO launches ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 globally — Here are top new features


OPPO introduced ColorOS 7, the next major ColorOS update in China last week. Today it has launched the ColorOS 7 for the global markets at an evente in India. OPPO said that ColorOS is used by over 300 millions users across 140 countries and regions and in over 80 languages. OPPO said that it has a lighter UI, faster app launch, system-wide dark mode, Soloop video editor and more. Here are the top features that were showcased at the event.

ColorOS 7 features

  • New material design icons that are more refined, and more compatible with Google kits. Inspired by the letter Oin OPPO, there is a brand-new set of pebble-style icon
  • Partnership with audio design company — epic sound improves overall sound effects of ColorOS. Based on the nature, tones and frequency of the sounds are adjusted, so that ears can enjoy a more comfortable audio. OPPO Relax will be coming next year.
  • Long-press with three fingers, select the screenshot area that you want, and complete it.
  • Dark Mode applies a higher contrast with natural gradation offering an immersive Dark Mode experience day and night. Dark mode can also be combined with Eye Protection Mode for a more comfortable visual experience. Dark mode can also be applied to third-party apps, even though they don’t have it natively
  • Quantum animation engine offers high frame rate animation for the best overall user experience.
  • Universal themes that are free and applies to the overall UI
  • ColorOS 7 increases the app startup performance by more than 25% when using multiple apps With oMem technology RAM is booster by 40%.
  • OPPO’s Osense scheduling mechanism gives priority to front-end and user-related threads. The system pre-renders the interface in order to speed up visual performance. It increases the operating frequency on the big core from 70% to 90%. Compared to ColorOS  6 the ColorOS 7 increases 19% of the average frame rates and 15% of touch response speed in gaming.
  • App Lock lets you encrypt any app, and can be opened by your password or fingerprint or face scan.
  • Private Safe is like an acutal safe for the files in your phone that can not only keep documents, but also photos, videos and audios. Once the files are set to be private, these private files will be transferred to a private ‘zone’ in the storage folder This ensures that they will not be accessed, read, or modified by other apps.
  • AI Beautification 2.0 can identify outdoor, indoor, night-time, and other environments. It can also detect light according to different scenes to best match your skin tone.
  • Camera’s Ultra Dark Mode leverages independent AI chips that can detect noise in different kinds of shadows and dark areas. It then runs a special night scene algorithm that achieves faster and more accurate noise reduction.
  • Soloop video editor lets you select the material you want to display and choose a template that you like. It then automatically generates a stunning and fun-to-watch video. With just one-tap, you get the video that can be shared on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or any other platforms.
  • Camera X enables any third-party apps to directly tap on the phone manufacture’s existing camera capability offering faster camera start-up speed, shutter speeds, HDR and AI beautification.
  • Partnership with the MEITY on DigiLocker program for DocVault an Easy, quick and Smart way of managing documents on the go.
  • Riding Mode avoids distraction when riding
  • Music Party lets other OPPO users scan the QR code and join you for music playback
  • Smart assistant lets you swipe and you to get all the information you need such as Weather, event details, cricket games and more.
