Reliance Jio at the annual AGM today introduced the JioPhone 2, the successor of last year’s JioPhone. It has a new design that includes a full QWERTY hardware keyboard along with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, and it also comes with Dual SIM support, unlike the first generation model that only comes with single SIM. It has cat.4 LTE support with download speeds of up to 150Mbps with support both LTE (Band 3,5,40) and 2G (900/1800).
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries at the company’s 41st annual AGM announced that Reliance Jio has crossed 215 million customers in 22 months of launch, compared to 125 million in July last year. Earlier this year when announcing the financial results, the company said that it had over 186 million customers.

According to an independent security researcher, a vulnerability in Jio’s JioWallet app said to have exposed personal data of the users. The Aadhaar numbers were exposed along with details like date of birth, when did they verify SIM card and their JioMoney account MPIN. Bharti Airtel today announced that it has appointed Ajay Chitkara as Director and CEO of Airtel Business, and the company has integrated both domestic enterprise and global enterprise operations. Ajay will continue reporting to Gopal Vittal, who is the MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel. The company has also appointed Pankaj Miglani as CEO – Global Business. He will report to Ajay Chitkara. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Bharti Infratel and played a key role in the company’s IPO in 2012.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited today has announced that it has signed a US$ 1 billion equivalent term loan facility covered by Korea Trade Insurance Corporation; K-Sure on 22nd June 2018. The company says that it will use the facility to finance goods and services procured primarily from Samsung Electronics and Ace Technologies Corp. The Facility has door to door tenor of 10.75 years. After Kerala, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu, Airtel has announced massive network expansion in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as part of its network transformation initiative – Project Leap.
